Classic movie! I love Richard Gere & Julia Roberts in this film. Entertaining & funny at times. Rodeo Drive baby!

The only good sex worker movie you’ll probably ever see. Completely timeless and charming.

Why are they trying to glamorize prostitution? Prostitution has a lot of abused women in this profession. It bothers me that some young girls watch this and think it is an acceptable life. Now Hollywood is pushing another movie that glamorizes prostitution. Anora.

So we’re supposed to believe a tall, handsome, successful businessman who could have any woman he wants just so happens to falls in love with a 304 with a chip on her shoulder who makes a living on her back? This isn’t a comedy…it’s pure Hollywood fantasy.

i understand why this was a good movie for the time it was made, but it seriously did not age well. the entire message was weird and the relationship was completely toxic but portrayed as a serious, unironic romance.

always a classic to watch

I was surprised to enjoy my 2024 rewatch so much. A watchable depiction of the raw villainy of private equity, the humanity of sex work, and the mystery of human connection.

Some wholesome scenes with the real 80s feel. The acting makes this film feel top-notch even though the plot might not be. The script also leaves some things to be desired.

It's a perfect film.

One thing I’ll never get tired of is this movie. It was the spark that ignited my journey to becoming a writer. I was introduced to it by my mother and aunts when I was just seven years old. (Yes, I know—what’s a kid doing watching this? But I watched everything!) This movie made me want to fall in love, even if it portrayed love in a complicated way. There’s something about it that every woman can relate to—everyone wanted to be her, even if they wouldn't make all the same choices. When I later learned about the movie's backstory and its writer, J.F. Lawton, the film become even more meaning for me. Vivian, in her own way, is a Disney princess! Disney actually owns the movie through their hidden Company, Touchstone. Originally, the ending was supposed to show Vivian and her friend Kit going to Disney World instead of having her end up with him, but Disney was like no and altered it. Yes, I did my research! For me, this movie has always been an incredible and fun experience to watch, and it continues to be a source of inspiration.

My favorite romantic comedy and the two leading performances were great. Gere and roberts chemistry is amazing. Tim Treakle

Carried by Julia Roberts’ performance which is even overrated

A Classic late 80's early 90's Rom-Com. Julia Roberts ia amazing in this with lots of charm, energy, and humor. And that's saying a lot because the acting is really good overall but she is a cut above everyone else in this. I did love Hector Elizondo though, only dude who had a heart with her. Gere & Roberts have really good chemistry in this. The music is really good too. Everything else is solid about it. The setting is colorful, lavish, and has plenty of memorable scenes. The only issue is the direction can be on the basic side a bit but the acting really helps elevate it. The story works also but sometimes it feels like it fits in a lot with the corporate takeover and the intertwining of the relationship but it works consistently well overall. It never feels like stuff just happens but it does fit in a lot. I will say also the final 15 minutes or so came off a bit on the anticlimiatic side suprisingly. I don't know if I'm saying this right but it kind of feels like the emotional climax is kind of spaced out throught the entire second half rather than building to it and that's why we get the somewhat muted end. though the very last scene did make me smile. It works really good and is at it's best whenever it focuses on Gere & Roberts being romantic OR just Roberts and watching her become a high society lady. It's good when it's just Gere and anything with the takeover or any conflict stuff but not AS good. It's still pretty charming and yeah while the setup if you REALLY wanted to can be picked apart can be done so, it's very charming and most should be able to look past that. Anyone who is a fan of the director, Rom-Com's, or any actors in this will like this.

A classic romantic comedy. Required viewing for any Julia Roberts fans. Can be far fetched and chauvinistic at times, but is still in my top 10.

Very interesting movie, an example of perfect casting and a interesting take on classes in society, the comical edge was done in a sub par manner compared to the other aspects.

Pretty iconic for her genre and I can say she surprised me quite a bit.The casting was perfect and the plot just what it needed to be!
