Project Power Reviews
(ENGLISH) The premise had potential: a pill that gives you superpowers for a few minutes, with unpredictable and explosive effects. What could go wrong? Well, while the answer isn’t a total disaster, it’s not exactly a triumph either. Project Power starts with energy, backed by a strong idea and a solid cast, but it gradually loses steam. Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt do what they can, and they’re honestly not bad. The issue lies more with the script, which becomes flat, predictable, and lacks punch as the story unfolds. What initially feels like a fresh take ends up being just another action flick, full of clichés, over-the-top visuals, and cardboard villains. There are a few redeeming scenes and some interesting commentary on power as a drug or addiction, but it all feels half-baked. The film takes itself too seriously, when maybe it would’ve worked better by embracing the absurdity of its own premise. The pacing doesn’t help either—at times it drags, and eventually you stop caring about what happens to the main characters. In short: entertaining in parts, with good intentions, but poorly executed. One of those movies that’s fine for a casual watch, but forgettable right after. A missed opportunity, though at least it’s not completely boring.
This movie was amazing! The story was gripping, and it was so much fun to watch. I definitely recommend it for action and crime fans!
I don't understand the hate. I loved this film. Action, comedy, heart, great concept.
The story wasn't the best; it really faded away after 30 minutes into the movie. The idea was very dull and lifeless.
Who didn't like this movie? Oh look...it's all white dudes. It was great. Fantastic pacing. It exceeded my expectations. Best of all, the characters weren't run of the mill action bullshit stereotypes.
The concept is alright, but the acting is bad and the story gets dull very quickly.
What a Bad movie! No worthy watching.
Filme escroto demais para ser considerado um filme.
Extreme action justified by a comic-book premise with NO surprises.
Project Power had an interesting plot, but it failed to execute. This is a drug heist movie disguising itself as a superhero movie, only using the super power pills when it was convenient for the plot.
40/100 - so mid lol, why do all new shows follow such bad tv tropes. and why do the casting directors pick the WORST actresses lmao
The critics refer to 'missed opportunities' with the concept for this movie. My guess is they would rather have see a larger-scale super-powered hero and villain flick, a la Marvel. Critics aren't known for their imagination or creativity. This flick clearly intended to derived much from the Marvel and DC universes. It also intended to avoid emphasizing that derivation and so added elements of illegal drug trade, government corruption and collusion with criminals, a touch of racism, and a interesting look at classism. The story itself is a bit thin, very linear with very little layering of secondary or tertiary narratives. It is made better by its three main stars. They lift the story enough to hold the viewer's interest.
A plot that has great potential but ultimately falls short. Foxx's performance is the best thing about this movie.
I think Jamie Foxx and JGL put is performances with heart in a movie that could easily been comical. Refreshing to see their comedy does not undercut the tone of the film and while the plot is cliché, Jamie definitely makes us feel like he is the first father ever in movie history to try and save his daughter.
Basically, and essentially, fulfilled its envisioned potential as an attempt to realistically conceptualize the superhero genre, deriving between the likes of "Hancock" and "The Darkest Minds", just to deliver a different sort of action within a generic structure. Since it's already a derivative combo of the two aforementioned films, "Chronicle" is a further realization where it could've gone for a more coherent style rather than just opportunistic setting that impresses. Average entertainment under conceptual intriguing tackle bolstered by Foxx and Gordon's involvement alongside Fishback's breakthrough, summing up overall satisfied enjoyment. (B)
Fox plays his usual epic best, Levitt his own charming smile and style with a cast in tow giving a fantastic show. Fun, exciting and thrilling adventure.
So freaking cool, wish there was a comic or sequel
Nah. What makes a movie less than average? Of course, plot, acting, direction etc. There's nothing obviously wrong with those in this movie. Yet....i kept waiting for the movie to end, not, oh here's a good spot for it to end, just more like, i cant wait for this movie to end. Never had any emotional connection with any of the characters and all the actors seemed out of place. It was just weird. It could have been a good film but it was more on the campy and cliche side. Am I lying? Prolly ok for mass consumption not anything a movie buff wants to see.
An original concept but poorly executed.
Action and sci-fi combination........🔥
