Bobby K I love anthology stories, each weaving a laugh out loud funny and scary tale. “Pulp Modern: Die Laughing” has fun dialogue, drama and interesting scenes. I thought the actors were fearless, relatable and believable. The acting is well done across all five stories, the talking bird and guy in white mask are hilarious. Each story creates its own little world that is authentic and visually pleasing. Written by Nicole Bird, Darren Casey and Akex Cizak, the exciting and unexpected film is a cross between “Amazing Stories” and “Tales from the Crypt", both among my favorite genres and I found the film to be highly entertaining. I especially enjoyed the first story which was bonkers, and the final story ends with an unexpected twist. There were also many funny moments in between that were memorable. “Pulp Modern: Die Laughing” is an exciting romp and darkly comedic anthology, this movie is a must-watch for fans of horror and fantasy fiction alike. I can’t wait to see what its creative team does next! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/27/25 Full Review TRAVIS G I just watched the movie PULP MODERN: DIE LAUGHING. The movie has a lot of strong scenes that I enjoyed watching and were very comical. The movie is directed by Alex Montilla, Scotch Rutherford, Ryan Shoney, Cameron Schwartz, and Aaron McJames. This horror movie keeps you laughing with 5 scary/funny stories in one! The movie has fun dialogue and drama and funny scenes. It was also shot in a very good way with many cool scenes to see and experience. The production value is quite high! All 5 storylines pull you in many directions as you're watching these movies. I thought the lead actors all had great onscreen chemistry– they were great together. The sets are great for an indie movie. I look forward to what these directors and filmmakers can achieve in their upcoming bright careers! Check this movie (movies) out! You’ll remember it! Lol Scary and funny! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Pat H Pulp Modern: Die Laughing is an anthology flick based on a graphic novel, and is one of the most delightful surprises I've come across this year. We're firmly in comedy/horror territory, and the five stories here each have something fun, dark or interesting to offer. My personal favourite is 'Cocky', in which a sweary parrot decides to crank things up a notch and begins actively manipulating the people around him to do increasing amounts of harm to one another. It's ridiculous, dark and thoroughly entertaining, with terrific performances and a certain bracing bleakness to it that I dug immensely. Elsewhere in the anthology we have an adaptation of Stephen King's 'Rest Stop', which is beautifully shot and works extremely well, a slasher parody entitled 'Overkill' which is great fun, a 'demon in the mirror' short called 'Mirrored' which throws in some memorable visuals and the final tale 'Sloppy Seconds' which, even if you might guess where it's going relatively early in proceedings still delivers a great deal of fun getting to the inevitably nasty conclusion. This is a cracking anthology, beautifully executed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Andrew W Pulp Modern die laughing is (in case you haven't guessed) a comedy anthology of five stories told by five writers and directors. the story is connected by seasoned radio DJ mister Cee (Alexander Cicak) A nameless female protagonist does battle with a malevolent Friday the 13th Jason entity using every kind of conceivable weapon and comedic one liner she can think of- a vane selfish young man mistakenly buys a mirror which serves as a portal to hell. A disgruntled university professor and crime author finds his insecurities manifesting in murderous rage. A talking bird sets off an irreversible chain of murderous events and an adulterer finds himself at the receiving end of his wife's vengeance. Theres no good guys in this anthology. Just a bunch of self centred morally compromised people from all walks of life in over their heads. With a premise like Pulp Modern with so many directors there was a lot that could go wrong but it remains consistent from beginning to end with all aspects- the stories-the performances-the cinematography and the editing. the film proudly wears its Troma entertainment style B movie influences on its sleeve It walks a fine line between horror and humour and you can tell the crew had a great time making it as it shines on the screen. I've watched many indie films in the last year and Pulp Modern is by far the most well polished! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/25 Full Review Ruby C If you like horror, quirky and comedy then this is for you. There are several stories that will have you laughing out loud and wondering what outrageous story is coming next. Much like "Tales from The Crypt" this is a fun, twisted, and gory anthology that centers around a radio host that plays none other than classical music. Well written, well acted, well told stories that are definitely worth a watch especially now that spooky season is upon us. It's entertaining, outrageous, and the set design, cinematography and editing is more than expected. It will definitely keep you entertained from start to finish. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review James C I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started watching Pulp Modern. But I could immediately tell that this was a well shot horror anthology. Unlike a lot of horror shorts out there I could see that the crew knew what they were doing when filming! I really enjoyed the variety of styles of the shorts as well, including, slasher, monster, murderous cockatoos, and a thriller, all with a comedic twist! The use of practical effects is always appreciated in indie films. And this anthology was no exception. There will be plenty of blood, severed limbs and gory wounds for the horror aficionado.
