Race to Witch Mountain Reviews
Lacks 100% of the charm of the original films.
Filme bacaninha, para mim quando o the rock começou a falar com a mulher no evento, o filme começou a ficar chato, parece que a ação do filme ficou fraca depois disso, de resto ficou bacaninha
The reboot is better than the original to me, even though the CG could've been a lot better for 2009. The Rock is the alien friendly cab driver.
15 years old and this is essentially a reboot of the franchise. There are updated special effects and action but the whole affair feels like an empty experience. Anna Sophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig play two children just like the older movie; two extra terrestrials land on Earth in search of a science experiment that will save their dying world. But their population is split on the matter…one half wants a scientific solution to bring breathable atmosphere back and the other created a bounty hunter to eliminate them both. If both children fail or the assailant kills them both then Earth faces an invasion with them taking over. They run into a cab driver Jack Bruno with a record and a female scientist specializing in UFOS. They are both of course stunned by the discovery these kids are aliens given they have telepathy and able to move objects with their minds. All the while government is hunting them down viewing them as a threat. The original movie is a bonafide classic, I watched it several times as a kid. This one slightly changes things up but it does feel very hollow in the end. The film should’ve been in 3D cause certain set pieces stand out. Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino make a good team even if they’re not written to the best degree. There’s an odd cameo by Gary Marshall, too. But this serves as a decent time killer for the family. Plus the child actors are the best parts given they show human emotion but also high intelligence from beyond the stars. Nothing very special but passes the time.
The 1975 moving objects effects were more believable than this made in 2009, but the worse is that it's just boring.
It's not bad, but not really worth your time.
Love this Sci Fi action adventure, great for family viewing added it to my Favorites.
Dwayne Johnson plays a taxi driver who drives alien kids around. As they are hunted by the government. I am sure the original Witch Mountain movies were better. Also they were just special kids with powers in the original believe, not aliens.
Although Race to Witch Mountain has an all star and talented cast, it is a shame that the film fell rather flat in terms of its poorly done action sequences and CGI and a story that seem to devoid anything thrilling or exciting.
Good-ish, low thought Disney alien adventure
i like the 1974 version the story line fits and i love this one this i a kind of movie that alien interaction with the earth can be more then once years later different people and still be a great movie i love the rock in here the kids are great it was well made believable in the sense of what the government would do where as the 74 version its a millionaire the concept is something that would happen people with lots of money can be villains. i would own both and will so ya loved the dog lol but i dont agree with most critics anyway
I never saw the original but this was kind of lame. Some humor was there with the alien kids and their dialogue but that's about it as far as entertainment value for me.
In this reboot of the 1975 film, Dwayne Johnson stars as a taxi driver that picks up a couple of strange kids who need help finding their spaceship. This movie doesn't focus on the mystery of who the kids are, you know up front that they are aliens. Instead, the plot has a government agency and a Predator like alien after them and Dwyane Johnson's character helps keep them safe. While different, I didn't find this movie any more engaging than the original. There are some plot inconsistencies that induced an eye roll from me. AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig play the two kids and are older than the two kids in the original. This allows for better acting from them. The two original kids have cameos in this film and that was fun to spot them. Not a bad film, but I understand why it didn't spawn a franchise. Check it out if you're curious.
Race to Witch Mountain is an enjoyable family movie. The story is too simple and execution was also not that great. The movie started off track but started coming on track as the story proceeded. The performances by all the actors were good and the characters are likeable. Overall, this movie is a good enjoyment.
Race to Witch Mountain has a talented cast that are clearly all trying their best, some decent production design and the occasional instances of funny moments, mainly when The Rock throws some snide remarks about aliens. But alas, this second attempt at adapting a book - and not a remake of some Disney movies from the '70s that I have no interest in watching - was not meant to be. Thanks to CGI that's generic-looking at best and unconvincing at worst, poorly lit action sequences and a script that really could've used some tweaking. It did give us that meme where Rock-y boy gives a WTF glare at AnnaSophia Robb which was last relevant in 2015, I think...so there's that. Race to Witch Mountain: one of Disney's weaker family-oriented action movies. I wanted to like it but it just failed to keep me interested for 95 minutes.
In Disney’s never-ending quest to remake everything from their past, Race to Witch Mountain is one movie that kind of came and went with very little notice. I recall thinking it was decent when I saw it in the theater, and returning to it now, I still found it to be a moderately enjoyable adventure film. I tend to connect with movies where the heroes are on the run, and they do a good job here at telling that type of story. Dwayne Johnson shows that he is an endearing hero, and I think his rapport with the kids was solid. They make a point of sprinkling action throughout the movie, since there is very little in the way of plot. I’ll admit that there are some serious flaws in the logic of Race to Witch Mountain. Most notably, there are several times when people do something stupid or out of character with no justification, and I was scratching my head. However, this is the kind of movie that had enough entertaining elements that I was able to shut off my brain and have some fun with it. I was also surprised that they did such a solid job of justifying why these kids were here, and explaining the importance of their mission on Earth. I won’t say that Race to Witch Mountain is brilliant, and it’s been so long since I saw the originals that I couldn’t possibly compare the two, but I liked what this film delivered and don’t regret watching it again.
Despite a talented cast, it lacks heart and originality.
