Radio Flyer Reviews
My brother and I used to watch this religiously. Great movie. Weird ending. Ive read that Bobby was actually killed by the king in reality.... then to cope with the trauma, the whole 'flying away in a wagon' thing was mike's only way of his mind to cope with the loss of his brother... I thank god for such a good Dad. and big brother.
Great movie! Amazing cast and fantastic storyline. Really grabs you emotionally.
Watching this with my mother, she thinks that the boy committed suicide in the end. I always thought he did manage to fly and escape. The ending and how you see it makes the whole movie magical or cripplingly depressing.
I'm not sure who it was made for or why.
A touching exploration of childhood, trauma, hope, imagination, brotherhood, and family. I was pleasantly surprised. Elijah Wood and Joseph Mazzello are perfect.
I love this movie, you have to step into the shoes of an abused child, to understand the deeper parts. I had a radio flyer wagon and as a child, my first escape (several blocks down a steep hill) was in that wagon! I had several pets that "disappeared" and if you have ever experienced any sort of disassociation or PTSD you can understand this movie. Those of us who don't die disappear into our minds in order to survive.
An excellent movie for families and children. I am surprised by some of the negative and off-putting comments and reviews. It would appear that many people are so needy of CGI tricks that merely excellent story and plot lines are no longer required! The two brothers are the real wonders in this movie; their escapades remind me of my brother and I when we were young. But now, childhood is not so simplistic and eventful.... computer games and social networks rob children of their childhoods. Too bad....but perhaps that is why I loved the movie so much...it wasn't so full of unreality that I couldn't believe the story. And...the two brothers were completely endearing.
I want to personally find the director of this movie and force him to build a cardboard airplane and fly off a cliff.
One of THE best movies ever made, IMO (right up there, and similar to, The Sandlot). Saw this during my childhood, but still think this movie is timeless. It's a movie literally anyone would love. BTW - what's up with the critics score? Seems like they just weren't paid to rate it higher. They don't make movies this good anymore.
Radio Flyer is a disappointing film. It is about a father who recounts a dark period of his childhood when he and his little brother lived in the suburbs. Elijah Wood and Joseph Mazzello give terrible performances. The script is badly written. Richard Donner did a horrible job directing this job. I was not impressed with this motion picture.
This is a great film! It's really sad, but also really magical. I remember this from when I was a kid and it took me away. I watched it again recently and it transported in the same way again.
For those critics that find this movie appauling, clearly don't undertand what it's like to be a child victim of abuse. The fantasy world is definitely where the child's mind would go when something like this happens. The movie shines on that very well. Whatever Donner did or didn't intend the ending to mean, the point is the movie touched on a subject most people would like to shove away. The kids did a great job portraying brothers, who live in what really is a "normal" family. As sad as that is.
Child abuse is a terrible thing and this tale unfortunate events is intriguing and well acted but there is one problem the child did not have to run away from child abuse all he had to do is tell someone and the father would have been sentenced.
Radio Piloto es una buena historia sobre maltrato infantil y la capacidad de resiliencia de los niños.
I enjoyed the movie as a youngster but it seemed to have a creepy message to it.. If your stepdad is abusing your little brother, don't tell mom or the police... No instead build a plane out of a wagon and roll him down a bluff... Smh. Early 90s were a strange but interesting time for family films. Lots of talking dogs and abusive step parents
It got me stuck and I couldn't stop watching.I liked it but I really couldn't understand why I had to watch it after all.
