Radioactive Reviews
A movie that had good intentions but probably would have worked better as a mini series with so much ground too cover. Good performances form Roamund Pike and Sam Riley. Interesting enough biopic of Marie Curie's life.
Recommended by a friend, this one did not resonate and I struggled to identify with the characters. It became tedious. Saw on Amazon.
This film is fine, and pretty much what I expected. I think it could have been really special with some different casting and more imagination.
Good movie that depicts how humanity will turn any discoveries meant for good into a tool for dominance and destruction.
Adapted from American artist and writer Lauren Redniss' graphic novel Radioactive: Marie and Pierre Curie, A Tale of Love and Fallout and by Marjane Satrapi, this biography of Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel prize and first person to win twice in two scientific fields, radiates with hypnotic cinematography and score from a debilitated core of storytelling.
This biographical drama is about the incredible life of Marie Sklodowska-Curie and her Nobel Prize-winning work with previously unknown radioactive elements that changed the world both in medicine and warfare. Even though the storytelling style is not the most adequate choice for this film and its historical accuracy is excessively questionable for its alterations for dramatic effect, the best thing about it is Rosamund Pike's portrayal of the Polish scientist, whom she thoroughly understands and will keep the viewer engaged. But ultimately, it feels like a disjointed film with sequences that partly and unjustly blame Mme. Curie for her discoveries.
Interesting and uplifting film about one of the great women of the 20th century.
A pretty big disappointment. It wasn't flat out bad but it was pretty bland and mostly a waste of Rosamund Pike and Anya Taylor-Joy's talents.
I was only aware of her story in the broadest of strokes. It was interesting to get a bit more insight. Rosamund Pike is very talented and this was another good example of that. I recommend.
The film seems to have more to do with her personal life than with her achievements. I was surprised that actress Anya Taylor-Joy was cast in this movie!
This biographical drama was pretty good. Rosamund Pike, Sam Riley, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. This true story about the life and career of scientist Marie Curie was dramatic, inspirational, and traumatizing. It's about always moving forward no matter circumstances you'll face and to never give up on what you can do for the world. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching.
Between 2.5 and 3 stars. Although it tries to go further than the figure of the biopic exploring how radioactivity has changed the world, it gives the feeling that the character is bigger than the simplicfication-to-get-the-point that the movie does.
Rosamund Pike gives an excellent performance as Marie Curie, the supporting cast is also quite talented, and the production values are impressive. However, its messy tone, flawed script, questionable storytelling and filmmaking choices, and disjointed narrative make this homage to one of the greatest scientists minds ever fall short of its ambitions.
Radioactive! Like the title says, it almost killed me. Awful script with a disastrous direction. Whoever made it has no knowledge about cinema. Well... Netflix, what can you expect from them. Everything they touch turns into Lead and sinks.
Had put this movie off because of the bad reviews, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was well done. Will admit it's a bit odd, kind of a mix of bio-pic and arthouse film.
