Ready to Rumble Reviews
For wrestling fans only comes this silly over the top good time. Loved the characters and wrestling appearances. Tears of joy were running down my face while watching this movie. The bloopers were great. Tim Treakle
Watched this again and it really is a bad movie with awful stereotypes.
This is a cult classic film. Its not for everybody. As a matter of fact, it may just appeal to the lowest common denominator. I don't care. Its unique in its own way & just a fun movie.
An over the top love letter to the opera that makes wrestling so great. Any real wrestling fan has felt that pain of watching their favorite wrestler lose in dramatic fashion and, even if deep deep down, dream they had the power to change it. This movie takes that dream and turns it into this outrageously fun buddy comedy fit for any wrestling fan.
A absurdly corny, outdated film that is better than it had any right to be. Why did I enjoy this so much? I have no clue but it made me laugh.
A Giant middle finger to wrestling fans.
Ready to Rumble gets better with age!
Cult classic grew up watching this movie everything you love about the 2000s
The Cameos and Wrestling Scenes Was fun but the inconsistent story about kayfabe, dated jokes, strange screenplay, and missing wrestlers will rub the fans of the sport off the wrong way.
Not even this fun cast can make it work.
I'll acknowledge first that I know that this is Not a good movie. I'm aware that it is a rather dumb, and probably generic buddy comedy flick. Having said that, I do find myself enjoying myself every time I watch this movie. I'm completely willing to believe and accept that I probably enjoy this movie more than the majority of others would because of the fact that I grew up watching this movie off and on when I was young. But revisiting it as an adult, I still find myself thoroughly enjoying it, despite it's (many) flaws. So the way I see it, if a movie can insight laughter, joy, and entertainment (no matter how good or bad), then it did Something right at the very least.
As a massive wrestling fan, I can't believe it took me this long to watch this. I actually had a blast with it. The whole thing is pretty dumb and ridiculous but it feels like the kind of thing I'd rewatch often as a guilty pleasure. Plus, it has Sid in it, so points for that.
The best wrestling movie ever made and 20 years later, still holds up in the laugh department. A cult classic!
If you don't take the movie seriously and just relax and remember it is pure satire then you can find a very fun movie to watch. If you possibly have a soft spot for the ridiculous soap opera of Pro Wrestling then you will like this movie too. Personally I thought they did a excellent job with the material. It's supposed to be dumb. It's supposed to be over-the-top outrageous in its cheesiness. Put the brain in neutral and let the 10 year old inside you have a little fun as you watch.
Oof! Talk about things not aging well... This is lowest common denominator humour, that talks down to it's audience. It's fun to see some wrastling love, and Arquette is totally committed so that's nice, but this is probably only going to work for kids.
What an abomination of a movie, this movie sucks and makes me hate wcw even more than I already did.
Ready to Rumble is one of those films I enjoy mainly because of the wrestling aspect of the film. The juvenile humour is over the top and I don't feel it was essential for the storyline. The best parts of this film are the three cast members playing off each other. The film will appeal to the younger audiences and fans of wrestling. I think this brings me back to an era in my life when wrestling consumed my life and that part of me enjoys the film. The filmmaker struggles to maintain backstory purpose for the two dim-witted leads and they can't overcome the one dimensional characters. I won't pretend this is the Casablanca of the wrestling films, but I enjoy watching this every now and again. 08/05/2020
One of, if not the worst movie ever made. This movie is so bad it pretty much carried over to destroying a whole wrestling corporation and the Monday night wars of the 90s.
