The only way that this movie would be redeemable is if at the end, the girl was lying, and it was all for attention. Then it would show the truth about satanic panic and how ridiculous it is. These allegations ruin many people’s lives.

It's a good movie... okay, it's not among Amenábar's best, but the strong message it conveys is something very precious, as it's totally neglected, and it has to do with anthropology, psychology, sociology, and cultural processes... ...namely, no one ever stops to think that... our convictions, even the smallest and most 'innocent' of everyday life, beliefs, visions of reality, etc... are solely and exclusively the result of a continuous process of signification, which occurs from the aggregation and redundancy of some information, rather than others. ...Excellent lesson of post-graduation, universally recognized by experts in the aforementioned areas, which we have the opportunity to learn with a good film by a good director, and good actors... ...I felt a bit of a lack of a more marked visualization regarding the great revelation that the protagonist has towards the end.

I thought this was a pretty decent film and more than a lot creepy. The dark and cold surroundings help to paint a macabre movie. Hawke is very invested here. I think people are being crazy harsh here, this is a fairly intelligent psychological drama.

Thriller cupo che probabilmente ha il difetto di non accostarsi abbastanza alla realtà dopo invece essere partito con didascalie ed accenni storici che facevano pensare a qualcosa di più reale. La trama è quella di un giallo thriller ben elaborato, con diversi elementi e piuttosto originale. Purtroppo però invece che concentrarsi maggiormente sulla così detta "regressione" si cade in semplici e troppo numerose allucinazioni, fantasiose ed ingombranti. Si poteva osare maggiormente.

This was a pretty good movie and it was based on a true story makes it even more interesting. The "hysteria" presented in the movie is very similar to many current events that have been happening over the last several years.

Great movie that conveys very important messages about human relations, nature of delusions, group psychology, memory as a constructive process, dangers of blind belief, be it belief in God or in science, and what it really means to be good or evil...I was able to guess what the ending will be somewhere midway in the movie, but it didn't make the final scenes less powerful.

Calling bs on hypno regression and implanting false memories = good call. Denying satanic ritual abuse = bad call. Funny that it is a Weinstein production. Actually, it's tragic irony. I probably would have given 4 stars without the intentional cognitive dissonance.

Good movie worth watching

WHY would Emma Watson of all people agree to do this movie, or maybe because she did this movie, it resulted in aspects of her that caused me to have asked that....ANYWAYS. The most interesting part of this movie is a spoiler, the entire reason for every other thing in this movie. That's the problem with a decent mystery / detective story, which this literally is: a good one is hard to talk about because talking about it is literally altering the perspective of the movie. That said, this is a pretty good detective movie, but its hurt a little bit by being a mediocre psychology movie dealing with fringe aspects when it is easier to rely on the simpler concept that the movie uses anyways. Its all just to confuse the audience about the details so they don't guess the ending too soon, so they might as well just have characters lying to each other. As good as this movie was, I know there is a great version of this that I'd rather watch. I enjoyed it, but I don't think I would recommend it to everyone, and I probably won't give it another watch.

Filmed with the usual proficiency of Amenabar (his own script). Not as heartpounding as Thesis, but worth seeing.

It is Fresh. 🍅 It is entertaining and "horror" enough to give it a chance. Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke share an incredible chemistry. *SPOILER ALERT* I immediately knew that something was wrong with Angela and, in the end, I was right. That final scene between Emma and Ethan when, finally, Angela shows her true colors is worth the entire movie.

Nowhere near as bad as the reviews make it out to be, Regression is bolstered by two decent performances (Hawke and Thewlis) and, for those of us who follow the increasingly haunted shadow-world of irrationality that has descended upon a vast segment of the population's mindspace, is both timely and necessary. The subject matter, unfortunately, deserves something with a larger point of view than this film was prepared to explore. And yet, it moves in the right direction. It's also beautifully shot, which is always a plus. All in all, however, it remains a minor work, decent viewing for a rainy evening at home.

It is time that I should start believing the critics. I was repulsed by Emma Watson's acting except that one scene she was crying without moving a muscle and the movie was below mediocre, mainly plain.
