Repo! The Genetic Opera Reviews
This movie isn’t for everyone. WTS I thought it was a great option for something different with familiar faces (including the one falling off via PH)) but it’s worth watching. There’s a lot to like about this low budget film with a great cast.
A guilty pleasure gory rock opera that’s charmingly messy that feels like it just needed one more draft into becoming a cult classic. Half of the movie is very stylish and catchy while the other half feels kind of dull and going through the motions. A fun dark concept that I wish could be remade since there’s still plenty of theatre love put into this despite its flaws.
Got to love the music! And HEY, the premise is pretty sweet!
Honestly, I loved this movie, it was suggested to me by a friend. Sweeney Todd vibes but still wouldn't be surprised if the director's name was Swooney Toad.
The movie is honestly horrible, but intentionally so. The director took gore and catchy music with an interesting story line and created an absolute masterpiece, which doesn't take itself seriously. To be fair, it isn't for everyone. Definitely a cult film. If you are a fan of bad movies, that know they are bad movies, you will love this. If you go in, expecting this movie to be anything other than awful, you will be disappointed.
Repo! The Genetic Opera will appeal to anyone with emo sensibilities, but its maddening over-stylizations will rip the brains out of everyone else.
This movie is DEFINITELY up on my favourite list, most of the reason why I first watched this movie was because of bill Moseley but overall it’s an amazing movie. 10/10 recommend!!
For a musical it fits the bill almost exactly as what a musical is meant to be. I could listen to this whole thing with or without the video the audio tells the whole story without needing to see it. The main issue is the video pulled down the movie's quality greatly since the plot and music is there and it's perfect but the visual overall was subpar. Personally I would watch it an infinite number of times for just the music but I do hope it gets a remake for the visuals, but wouldn't change a thing with the story or audio.
Great music, great movie!
I didn't expect a whole lot from this but it proved me wrong. Great acting, great story, even Paris Hilton didn't disappoint,
Goth cult classic. I'd seen this once before in highschool but didn't really remember it. My thoughts upon rewatch: it started a bit slow, I almost turned it off after about fifteen minutes but it eventually sucked me in. There were only a few memorable songs, but the ones that were good were very good. If you're a bit of a goth who likes musicals, you'll love this. Otherwise.... You might not like it. This is made for a very specific audience.
Honestly, I'm not sure what I just watched. It's stupid sire but it's the same stupid as things like friends or how I met your mother where you can switch off your brain and just enjoy it. Not gonna be everyone's favourite but certainly gonna be rewatching it a few times.
It's weird, every horror musical I watch I seem to enjoy more than the last. They are always so bizarre, and this one is no exception. It's bad but I can honestly manage to look past all the negatives because the songs are great, the story is fairly simple and easy to follow, and the entire thing looks like a Goth music video from the mid to late 2000s and I dig it.
It has an interesting visual style and that is different to the vast majority of films and 온라인카지노추천 shows but I can't help thinking that this unique style was used to hide a low budget. Still I quite liked it; especially the CGI world. Good solid surround sound and powerful bass. My first and biggest gripe is that they were singing the whole time - there was basically no talking whatsoever. Some of the music was okay, for a musical. It was a very operatic story of love lost and organ removal. Quite a cool concept but why did it have to be a musical and not a horror comedy? It also felt self-indulgent on the director's part. Probably not worthy of your time.
Unique perspective, fabulously creative, great cast. Time will hold this movie as we held onto Rocky Horror long after its movement began. And in this weird world, the idea of financing organs doesn't seem so outlandish.
The movie is damn good and sucks that the Critics hate it, but the only bits of problems with the movie is the teen angst aspect and Paris Hilton and that's it. Terrence RULES!!!!
Repo is no Rocky Horror Picture Show.
wow. i'm not sure what i was expecting, but it was not that. definitely the weirdest musical I've ever seen - but after thinking about it all day, i think I've decided I'm a fan. this was obviously made for quite a niche audience, but it's very fun. & some of the songs are really catchy, haha. i absolutely LOVE that Paris Hilton is in it too - what a cherry on top.
