Rock Star Reviews
Very entertaining from start to finish, and the story evolves well as the movie goes without turning into a "sleeper". If you don't like rock/metal you may not like the movie as it played metal songs all the time. But that's your loss and not the movie's fault. 🤘 Lots of respect for bringing real musicians to play the characters so we don't have lots of pretending actors that makes the shows look fake (I'm looking at you, "that thing you do" cast).
Rockstar (2001) is a beauty of a movie about the rock/metal band scene and the fans that grew up idolizing them. Not to be taken too seriously though. This was one of my & best friend's movie to watch! (RIP Adam Humble)
I enjoyed watching this movie on DVD recently. It's a fantasy come true story about a guy who gets a chance to become his rock star hero, and eventually realises that some dreams are better left unrealised. As you'd expect, it's full of extreme characters and behaviours that only rock stars could get away with, but that's what makes it fun to watch. I found the rock music very agreeable, and the whole film has an infectious energy that is hard to resist. I thought Mark Wahlburg was very plausible as the rock star, and Jennifer Aniston played his manager/girl friend perfectly. Timothy Spall also stood out for me as an excellent choice for the band's tour manager. I found the film very well paced, with plenty of diverse scenes to maintain the viewers attention. Highly recommended.
It goes by easily, the cast notably features actual rockers, the concert sequences are pretty exciting, and strong moments include Emily's side story and Chris and Mats's last couple of scenes. However, it often feels like a collection of cliches (oh look, a 온라인카지노추천 thrown out of a window!) as if an outsider put together a bunch of headlines while the characters take a back seat. I'm sure Ripper's story was interesting - and real - enough, so it's a pity they went with this highly fictionalized take.
A great story that shows men the negetive side effect I f their drive for success, the need to balance their life.
A gem of a movie really underrated they could of pick hammerfall to be in it..
In a comedic sense, this early 2000's film actually manages to hit here and there. The story and "romance" barely have a hint of a cautionary-tale angle that saves the narrative from being purely stock and pedestrian.
I liked this. Fun, well-crafted, light.
A tribute/spoof of 80's rock bands and the people who mimicked them, this is a movie I didn't get around to seeing until 20 years after it's release. It's really dated... I don't know what to say. Made about a period of time 15 years before it's release and now seeing it, for the first time, 20 years after that release... I don't know if it applies to anything currently going on in music or movies. It did have some of that 80's cringe on it though.
I don't care that the Wahlberg-Aniston relationship was cheesy and formulaic. I don't care that the poster has him hitchhiking with a guitar that he didn't play once the entire movie. I don't care even that Wahlberg's singing voice was dubbed by someone else. I loved this movie and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. There aren't enough movies made about metal bands and even fewer with excellent casts and production values. Underdog characters are like Scooby snacks to me - I'll enjoy any movie as long as you give me one to like. Seeing Peter Pettigrew in a non-rat role was awesome!
for what it is I found this believable . If you see comedy and expecting a laugh out loud mockumentary, don’t get your hopes up 2.9
I honestly always enjoy this movie when it's on cheesy but fun
Very well done. Good music too. A lead singer of a copy band gets the chance to be the real thing for the band he admires.
Another dumb rock and roll band movie. Stop making bad rock and roll movies.
Thanks once again to @HDTGM. This comedy/drama/faux documentary is very hard to explain/sit through.
This film is truly awful. Marky Mark is miscast and the film just seems to do nothing more than make fun of the rock genre without saying anything new. A deeply hollow and unsatisfying film. Just watch Wayne's World or Spinal Tap
