Roman Holiday Reviews
Great movie. Audrey’s introduction is well worthy of her Oscar.
Audrey Hepburn is delightful in this romance film. One of the all time greats.
Masterpiece. Such a nice story and actors. Recommended.
This Movie one of must watch one. Basics of todays Movies. Beautyful scenes and kind story.
Classics get this charm to make you watch it over and over again. I watched this movie first time at the age of probably 14 or so. And I felt this movie so touched and wonderful though I hadn't got any romantic experience at that time. I love the elegent princess and the smart journalist. I love the plot.I love the way the director told the story. And I recommend this to many of my friends including my boyfriend(he is not yet at that time and he watched that immediately to show his attention on me). And today I watched this movie again, I am 20 now. And I have not be with my boyfriend for some time. And I am so surprised to find something changed and unchanged. I still love this movie so much. I believe I'll still watch this movie one day. However my thoughts changed, as I said, I used to think the movie is about romantic things now I prefer to think this is about the growth of Princess Ann. I am not very clear about others, for me, there is once I can feel this strong desire to leave my home, to leave my mother and father, and all of the old things because I got so tired of them. For me, to leave is the biggest topic during my adolescence. So at the beginning of the movie you could see Ann dislikes her life a lot. Natuarally, she ran she left and she met with John Bradley. They had an unforgotten day, Ann broke the isolation with the world out of her life, she met many ordinary people she knew them directly through her eyes her ears. In the end she decided to go back. Would you choose to go back if you were Ann? Personally I think this movie is a happy ending. Because finally the princess realize her responsibility, she realize what she wants, she understand her meaning to her country, and she is so brave to carry all of it. We know from the very beginning that they would not live together there after, I feel so pity! But I am so clear that there are some people in my life are to miss. We can not be together forever. And this is what life is about.
Thoroughly enjoyable, classy, romantic and surprising.
Watching this makes you wonder why more rom comms cannot be as well made as this. Genuinely charming and moving. I am at a loss why some people don’t like it.
Maybe if they had filmed it in color it would’ve made a difference, but I found it rather boring. It really doesn’t have a plot. Princess and reporter wander around Rome doing slapstick. Wants to be a rom-com but the romance never blossoms. The one Hepburn made with Peter O’ Toole in Paris is a much more enjoyable movie.
One of my favorite movies, in my opinion a classic forever.
Such a luminous and heart-warming movie!
Fall in love with Audrey Hepburn - this is an AMAZING movie!
Filme fantástico. Na época do ouro do cinema americano.
Undeniably charming, although I'd argue Peck is miscast (he's just not scrappy enough for this role) but that hardly matters. That bittersweet ending is just wonderful.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS FILM! OH MY GOD. I felt like I went on a Rome tour in the '50s. Gregory was hot and I blushed over the man who passed away 20 years ago. Audrey earned that Academy Award. Their chemistry and development were everything. Beautiful film. The end broke me but still. It's in my top 15 favorite films of all time-officially!
Roman Holiday is an absolute classic and one of the best movies of the 1950s. I give this movie an A+.
Romantic comedy classic that sets the standard for the genre, thanks to two brilliant leads along with a story that never gets to hammy. Aubrey Hepburn is superb in her film debut, looking every bit the royal princess while charming throughout. You genuinely feel she is tired of her duties is just wants a day off, which she enjoys to the upmost. She is matched perfectly by Gregory Peck, a jaded reporter looking to crack a huge story but instead finds himself following for her. Behind the camera, director William Wyler delivers a charming romantic comedy, showing off the gorgeous city of Rome along with some fun hijinks. Best of all, he never lets the story get to cheesy, leading up to a thoroughly satisfying ending that Hollywood pictures today would avoid. All in all, a true classic in the genre.
One the most exciting, lovable films I've ever seen. the fun, and the drama were both on point, and topped off with a jaw dropping ending.
A great movie, Audrey Hepburn won the Academy Award's Best Actress award in this, her first starring role. Hepburn plays an English princess, and Gregory Peck is sensational as a newspaper reporter who finds himself with royalty in a way he never would have suspected.
