Saltburn Reviews
This movie was disgusting. I nearly lost my popcorn with that bathtub scene. How was this even given as many stars as it was?
Probably the worst movie my wife and i ever watched...boring for two hours ...hoping it would improve, but it did not.... such a waste of time .
Such an amazing performance from the entire cast, great cinematography & interesting storyline! This movie is entertaining and always makes me think
The class politics of this movie can be boiled down to 'Filthy mean poor people can't be trusted and will take advantage of us :( isn't that so sad for honest, kind rich folk?' Moreover it often felt like this movie was trying to be shocking but in very cheap ways that don't actually do anything beyond the intial 'what the hell' response. It can be visually gorgeous sometimes and has a handful of funny lines, but that's all it's got going for it.
Eerie and gripping like the Talented Mr. Ripley.
I've seen this so many times now. I don't care what anyone has to say, I love it.
This movie really surprised me I was expecting a boring romance movie but it had so many twists I wasn't expecting a bit crazy for my liking be warned but still a good movie I would rate it 89%
Emerald Fennel killed it, I had no idea I needed this. Barry Keoghan is just amazing on so many levels The dance scene is a definite rewatch I'm not a fan of Margot Robbie movies she acts in but her production choices are my favorite
Interesting story with good character development. Keeps the viewers interested and curious throughout the film.
This was a boring horrible movie
A waste of talent. Some exceptional acting (and some lovely visuals) do NOT make it worth your time. It's not even close to ringing true on any level. There's almost no story. The bit of story there is has one original twist and one unusual scene, and is otherwise boringly borrowed from a few other stories. The characterisation of Oxford student life and of the titled family are both pathetic. (Which is made weirder because Rosamund Pike was actually at Oxford). Taking a step back, the film - and it's relative success - suggests a strange and unhealthy perception of Oxford University, and to families who have inherited estates.
Wildly messed up. Shocking and upsetting. A good movie, albeit, incredibly gross at times. Barry plays a really good villain. His ability to be weird is unmatched. Cinematography was PRIME!
Misses the mark of becoming a great film with its lack of depth in its characters but the cinematography is truly a masterpiece.
A bizarre dark comedy psychological thriller that kept me on my toes with its unpredictable plot, unreliable narrator structure, shocking psychosexual scenes, and beautifully lit set pieces that鈥檚 sadly bogged down once it鈥檚 over and in-hindsight you realize all the shaky/inconsistent motivations, jumbled tones, and half-baked themes that are otherwise interesting, but only modestly executed.
This is a story that cleverly and darkly portray the class disparity and it's societal mutations. We see household of the working man all shattered with shame. We see the palace loosely knit with wealth. And we see the palace dwelling Cuckoo with madness in his gaze and forethought in his manner. Excellent performances especially by Barry Keoghan. Vivid visuals keeps the audience on the edge. Excellent cinematography that adds the twisted mysteriousness to every frame. Great sound effects to deliver the liveliness of characters. Contrasting background music to remind the SaltBurn is never what you expect till the very end.
Es una historia que relata el lado inofensivo de la naturaleza humana como una m谩scara para tapar las verdaderas intenciones.
Only 2 1/2 stars because Barry and Rosemond played their parts so well. Beyond that this film was nowhere near as provocative as it thought it was. I was hoping for something that had a point of view, but this was just a predictable story about class envy. We learn nothing about these wealthy people other than that they鈥檙e extremely, ludicrously out of touch, including the younger generation. The rest of the cast got through it, but I did not feel emotionally connected to any of them. Guessed the twist about 15 minutes in, pretty much knew how it was gonna end. Beautifully shot, I will say that. I really expected more after Promising Young Woman. Jacob Elordi is so low-energy as an actor that I鈥檓 beginning to wonder if he has another gear. So far, I haven鈥檛 seen it. Even in his roles where he is supposed to be volatile, he looks like he can鈥檛 wait to get through that and go back to staring off into the middle distance or saying his lines in what I assume is a 鈥渘aturalist鈥 manner.
My stomach is still churning from some of the things I saw in this movie, but the plot and ending made it worthwhile.
Probably one of the most demented physiological movies ever made and truly makes the audience feel terrible for ever having sympathy for the unpopular nerd. This movie makes you cringe and hate yourself more for enjoying the climax and drama that proves he who laughs last laughed the loudest. This is not a family movie. It鈥檚 dark, twisted, and has a lot of implied sexual tension and abuse. I can鈥檛 get some scenes out of my head which just stands a testament to the power of this movie.
This movie is, quite frankly, overrated. While the cinematography, camera movements, and overall atmosphere were undeniably intense and skillfully executed, the narrative fell disappointingly short. The plot felt thin and highly predictable, lacking the depth needed to sustain genuine engagement. Although the film attempted to compensate with exaggerated scenes these ultimately felt forced and failed to elevate the story. Despite its visual craftsmanship, the lack of compelling storytelling made it difficult to fully immerse oneself in the experience.
