Saw: The Final Chapter Reviews

May 3, 2025

All the planning and preparation in the sequels from a dead/sick man is ridiculous. However, let Jigsaw plat his games and enjoy the carnage that follows

So, in my Saw VI review, I said I'd try to keep an open mind. And, I did. This movie was... interesting, to say the least. Is it flawed? It is quite flawed. Is it a satisfying conclusion to Saw? No. It isn't really. It's a prime example of the journey being better than the destination. But was it entertaining? Hell yeah. As a finale, it aimed to wrap up some plot threads from Saw I-VI: Jill vs. Hoffman, what happened to Lawrence after Saw I and Hoffman's reign as Jigsaw's successor. It also had the plotline of Bobby Dagen and his test, but we'll get to that later. Jill vs. Hoffman was definitely the weakest part of the movie. She didn't fight like she did in Saw VI, she just sat and Hoffman caught her. It was cool to see the Reverse Bear Trap in action, but it was unsatisfying. The fate of Lawrence was something that didn't need to be answered but that was handled in an alright way. I liked the flashbacks to how he helped with the other movies. Aside from Bobby's plotline, Hoffman's downfall was the best part of the movie. It felt like an effective evolution of Saw VI, where he's known as Jigsaw's successor and he makes traps to stop the police. Bobby's plotline was the strongest part of the movie as it felt like a classic, fun Saw test, akin to Jeff's or William's. It was just a fun movie. My favourite trap in this movie was the Brazen Bull. While it's cruel, I actually quite enjoy it. It was quite obvious that Bobby was going to have to do his test for real, and it was a great and sadistic evolution of Bobby's idea. Also, it could be argued that Joyce didn't deserve her fate, but then again, Jigsaw has had undeserving victims before. Overall, it's an entertaining movie, just not the best conclusion to Saw. It's basically the Saw equivalent of The Rise of Skywalker. But, it doesn't end here. Next up, Jigsaw! Which seems like it's going to be more of a reboot. Should be interesting.

An absolutely perfect way to end the franchise even though it didn't. Saw 3D has some amazing and iconic traps and has perfect gore as well as bringing back familiar faces.

I think that this was an ok way to wrap up the Saw series and it could have been a lot better. The main character that is focused on in this movie is Bobby and he got rich off of lies. He faked being in a Jigsaw trap just so he could get money and fame off of it. Hoffman actually made it out and he was a good Jigsaw, besides the killing that he did. He lasted the whole time since the first Saw movie and he was finally locked away at the end. No one knew it until this movie, but Jhon recruited Lawrence Gordon to help him with his traps. For example, when the guy needed to cut the key out of his eye was the true work of a doctor who knows how to cut. Hoffman kills Jill for what she did to him, and Jhon made a tape specifially if something ever happens to Jill. Lawrence and some other masked men capture Hoffman at the end, and lock him in the same bathroom from the first film. Bobby did survive his series of tests, but he let everyone that surrounded him die because he couldn't pass any trap. His wife suffered the worst fate by buring in a big metal container. The main cop in this movie was Gibson and he had some history with Hoffman, but he ended up dying in the last moments of the movie. The traps themselves were brutal and I thought this movie had very good traps. Hoffman was never good as Jhon, but he came pretty damn close. Overall, couldv'e been better and I am excited for the future Saw movies that aren't in this timeline.

Not a fan of the movie. Feels rushed and the blood does not give me that disgusting vibe.

The deaths are intense, but the blood didn’t seem realistic, it was too light and thick like paint. And the timing on the traps is very bad. It took 2 minutes for each character to try and escape a 30 second to one minute trap they failed at And the camera lighting is certainly not the same or realistic as the first movie.

Oh, my, lord. If you can avoid this, do yourself a favor and run in the opposite direction.

No cohesive story. The film is scenes of torture ( cheaply filmed) that are connected by the thinnest of plot lines. Dumb movie.

Probably my least favourite Saw movie. Although the Chester Bennington scene was awesome. R.I.P. Chester

Gut wrenching gore. Amazing traps. All-in-all a wunderbar film.

The final chapter of the SAW franchise was very inconsistent with its story which is a dam shame since most of the franchise had a very consistent story which each other throughout its timeline.

I rate this movie a 5.6!! Less than mediocre acting, yet the gore was on point!

This final chapter is a disappointment in every way I see it. it lost every atom of atmosphere that I thought was enough. The plot is very weak with totally poor characters who get killed by the puzzler's traps. I have never liked the protagonist Bobby, due to his poor character and inability to save a life. In fact, throughout the entire film he was unable to save even one person from the killer's trap. The only things I liked were 2: The ending and Hoffman. The ending is there, because it reintroduces an old character from the first film who I thought had never been seen again and who I also didn't know that after the first film he had become yet another accomplice of John Kramer. I have always liked Hoffman for his usual strategic and murderous character, although I didn't like this film.

My honest reaction: 😐
