LOVED IT! MAINLY BC OF CALEB MCLAUGHLIN 🫶🏼

Man, this makes Lebron's early high school career look dull. It doesn't capture the thrill of his talent or the tension of the controversy of his suspension.

Don't expect something special or inspiring, it's just a biopic of Lebron James childhood.

Shooting Stars is a biographical sports drama that follows the high school basketball career of LeBron James and his team called the Fab 5. This story is said to be his origin story that led him to the NBA. The movie stars Caleb McLaughlin, Marquis Cook, and Wood Harris. The one thing that made this movie really work for me is the dynamic that was the Fab 4 and then became the Fab 5 when Romeo came into the picture. I feel like almost everyone can relate to having that group of friends in school that you went everywhere with and did everything with. This movie is also more than just a LeBron biography as the story deals with the topics of how friendship, teamwork, and family can help people overcome challenges. One of the best things about this movie was how they showed how LeBron became egotistical and the people around him started to take notice and had to help humble him. It was clear that all 5 of this team had great passion for the game and once things started to get serious, Sian even said that it wasn't fun anymore due to the competitive nature of trying to make it big and to compete with LeBron's standout skills. This movie just felt really real and grounded and is just a story of passionate kids grinding and hustling to the top and mastering their craft. I do feel like this movie could be slow for some but I myself usually get entertained by inspiring stories like this, especially with the incredible acting and writing. Overall, Shooting Stars is a really solid biographical film about 5 brothers who were passionate for the same game where there's drama, drive, and determination which comes off as entertaining for basketball fans and people who enjoy great inspirational stories. Shooting Stars gets a B+.

Loved this definitely worth a watch

As lame and boring as 90% of movies about a certain sports star or team. There is nothing interesting about this story, besides, maybe, a few game scenes, but then you can just as easily go to any sport channel and enjoy some great action without the endless teeny talk which fills this movie. 2/10 points

W movie, represented the struggles LeBron faced while growing up without focusing to heavily on him by sharing the spotlight to the other characters in the story. A real feel good movie and entertaining movie. Basketball fans will be loving this.

I love the new movie, Shooting Stars. You don't need to be a basketball lover to enjoy this one! This movie is so motivational, relatable and hilarious. It is a must-see, and definitely a "slam-dunk." The film highlights the inspirational story of the ultra-famous NBA player, LeBron James and his high school friends. It takes place in 1994 through 2003, during his childhood and high school years, and focuses on the "Fab Four" - young LeBron James (Marquis Cook) and his best friends Lil Dru Joyce (Caleb McLaughlin), Willie McGee (Avery Wills) and Sian Cotton (Khalil Everage). I've never been an avid basketball follower or fan, but that didn't make Shooting Stars any less of an enjoyable movie for me. Even though I never played basketball seriously, I can relate to this movie as a high school athlete. It was so interesting to learn things I never knew about LeBron James and his life. And what's great is that if you want to learn even more about LeBron, you can read the book by LeBron James and Buzz Bissinger, Shooting Stars, which the film is based on. Since the film was produced by LeBron himself, it provides an accurate representation of his early years. In a voiceover in the first-look teaser trailer James says, "People think they know my story, but this is our story." The sets, locations and props all reflect the time period and give us a bit of nostalgia. Additionally, the actors look so much like the people they play. Speaking of which, Marquis Cook, Caleb McLaughlin, Avery Wills, Khalil Everage, and Sterling Henderson work so well together and have a lot of chemistry. Additionally, they all are fabulous basketball players. Shooting Stars marks the acting debut of Marquis "Mookie" Cook as young LeBron James. Although he is a rookie actor, Cook has a substantial basketball background. He is not only a top-ranked high school athlete but has also participated in the 2023 All-American games. Throughout the movie, be on the lookout for some cameos! The message of this movie is to follow your passions and work hard for them. Additional themes are that your family isn't just blood and that teamwork is important when you're trying to achieve your goals. Be aware that there is some profanity and language that people may find offensive. I give Shooting Stars 5 of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 18, plus adults. Athletes and LeBron fans will particularly enjoy this movie. By Katherine S., KIDS FIRST!

Really good movie, I enjoyed it from start to finish it kept my attention.

Jun 13, 2023

The movie was as phoney as one of Lebron's major soccer-like fouls when he tries to draw attention to himself and a whistle on his opponent. Came away liking him even less. If you are into fiction, I guess it's OK.
