Sin City Reviews
20 years since this film hit theaters and this exhilarating, violent ride still impresses. Sit down and strap in as you pinball through the cesspool of Basin City with a motley crew of criminals, thugs, and sickos; as a few pursue truth, they all end up blasting a big bleeding hole in their normal everyday depravity.
One of the best comic book movies. On the big screen was an excellent experience you just can’t replicate at home.
Very good movie. It definitely resembles pulp fiction. Although my favorite story scene was with Mickey rourke and Jaime king.
Go see this if you haven't yet!
So dumb but visually stunning. It's already 20 years old, still vivid.
It’s been years since I watched Sin City, after watching it again, I can’t get enough of it. I particularly enjoy how each story is intertwined and centers around its back-alley saloon full of odd characters within “Basin City”. Great cast, great artistic noir, with some great writing, too. “Old man dies, young girl lives. Fair trade.” “Always, and never,” says the woman working in that type of industry. It makes watching regular films a little boring. I’m sure someone could critique it’s violence and over-appreciation of the female body, however, what is interesting is the dichotomy between its dodgy protagonists and their moral codes that most everyday people would likely fundamentally agree with, which makes the storytelling more about people righting wrongs rather than bad people doing terrible things.
Ok movie nothing special about it
Someone put a lot of thought and effort in to this. They wanted it dark and stylish - and example of cartoonish grindhouse violence and sexploitation - a true comic book come to life with none of that nasty realism! As an anthology goes (similar to Pulp Fiction) there isn't a whole lot going on - most of the plotlines are very simple and not particularly family friendly... but of course that isn't the audience. The style and visuals are REALLY well done. I am not a fan of the material, but I can admire the effort.
Sin City (2005) Cast: Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen, Alexis Bledel, etc. Directors: Frank Miller, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez The film "Sin City" is set in Basin City, a fictional city that plays a massive role in corruption and violence. This is a place that involves prostitution, violence, and crimes involving money. It makes it very popular as a good setting for this particular film. Watching the film a few more times and looking into details of the scenes and events happening around the main topics helped me notice that "Sin City" has various criteria uses. The film incorporates various topics, such as the emphasis on the Violence, anxiety, and how it focuses on the mental and physical relations between the characters. The Story explores the dark and violent Basin City and everyone involved in the corruption. Josh Hartnett, who is a mysterious salesman, narrates the Story. Mickey Rourke plays a role in the film, which goes out to the criminal world to find his love, Jaime King. Although the Story is structured into specific parts, it is seen as how everything connects to what is going on in the city. It is as if they are all just trying to keep themselves alive and not get stabbed in the back. It is vital to look deep down into detail. This helps to understand what is happening in the film and the outcome of the film. In this film, the overall focus and potential of the Story are based on violence. The characters and language they use are powerful and can create chaos for the audience because of their power. However, the characters' acting and portrayal are exceptional in their power. After watching the film, I was able to look back at the style of the film and the way it was structured. The way the characters and overall cast contributed to creating such a powerful and creative film. The film versions of these powerful stories are always way better from my perspective. It helps the audience gain a clear understanding of the characters and their emotions. Another important feature when it comes to characters is their development in how they portray the character and in the scenes. Despite the topics in "Sin City", it is a fantastic film and gives the audience many perspectives, whether consequential or not. Still, it is up to one perspective on how one understands the message portrayed in the film.
That was an immediate classic. The critics did not get the catch at that time. But, after 16 years, sin city still lives.
It's good, it's really really good... Just watching it, you won't be disappointed
Incredible photography and set design. Must-see
A masterpiece that left me speechless!
An incredible one of a kind movie that brings all the best parts of graphic novels and movies together into one masterpiece.
This is one of the few movies which really succeeds in translating its comic-book source material to the big screen, and one of even fewer which accomplishes this in live action. The monochrome, leather-clad, crude noir aesthetic is brought to life beautifully by the cast and director. It’s everything that films like Pulp Fiction wanted to be but never could. Every shot, every line, every sound effect is precise and effortless at the same time. It takes a while for the separate stories to come together, but it’s satisfying when they do. Some of the plot points and twists at the end range from peculiar to disturbing. Some of the storylines feel more like a writer’s fetish than a natural progression. Regardless, it hits a sweet spot if you’re looking for ultra violent, over the top noir with an unmatched mood and groundbreaking direction.
SDMM pt 3: Noir done differently.
Un cast muy bien elegido y con un ambiente que te mete muy bien a la trama.
Some parts like the green screens and cgi aged, but it looks and feels still stunning, dirty and gritty.
Enormously entertaining. Stay away from the sequel, though.
