St. Agatha Reviews
I have seen this nunsploitation so many times, it is so good, and some scenes are so gross, which I LOVED!!!
A pregnant woman takes refugee in a convent ran by sadistic nuns. She is forced to fight for her own survival when she starts uncovering the nuns' dark secrets. A religious horror movie that relies on a simplistic plot: nuns committing demonic acts against innocent young women. Unoriginal!
An amateur horror film. Too disgusting in places for my taste, but horror films are meant to provoke a reaction, and it certainly did! This isn't a jumpy film, but does make you cringe. I have been left feeling disappointed and robbed of a thrilling horror.
Talk about a twisted movie. I have a sensitive stomach and this movie made me gag a couple times. You run to these people who you think are religous and can help you turn your life around. But you realize it's all an act and these people make your life a living hell. What torture these girls go through. I overall thought this was a good movie. Very good but sick
I think it's unoriginal plot makes it easy to forget (and hard to love) but the ending is pretty satisfying!
As an avid horror fan, how is this movie on Netflix and not at the absolute bottom of the barrel? Dear god. Horrible plot from start to finish. I'm angry at myself that I sat through that.
This movie had no real meaning behind it. The acting was terrible. It was all over the place. There were so many unanswered questions. There were so many unnecessary scenes that never got a touch back to make sense of. The movie was dragged out and overall not entertaining. I definitely would not recommend this film.
what in the actual $%#$ did I judt watch?! First of all, it takes 3/4 of the movie for anything interesting to even happen and second, the music is relatively dull. The acting is pretty emotionless, wooden, boring, really. The plot is absolutely ludicrous as well, I mean, it would be more realistic if a giant spider broke through the wall and ate everyone.
Darren Lynn Bousman has had some rough years as a director, yet his previous works, in my opinion, stand higher than this one. "St. Agatha", as a horror, offers nothing new, original, amazing, extraordinary or even good. The writers responsible for the story and characters definitely do not deserve nor applause nor a subtle nod, maybe a little shaming. The story's fairly straight-forward, never builds up to anything unexpected, the suggested supernatural angle of the plot is not explored or explained much at all. The protagonist characters are traditionally dumb, the antagonist characters are sort of over-written, even annoying at some points. However, the acting did not bother me, given the variety of weakly written characters, the level of acting in "St. Agatha" is rather impressive. Cinematography is decent, noticeably low-budget, but good enough to not annoy the eye of the viewer. There are a few decent, scattered scenes of violence & abuse - the short, more action-ey parts of the movie are at least average. All is accompanied by a soundtrack that's mostly noticeable only when the ominous, creepy choir voices join in. The pacing is pretty draggy, there's more lows than highs. If you don't have a strong principle of finishing whatever You've started watching, as I do, prepare for the risk of poor Agatha putting You to sleep. "St. Agatha" is a painfully average, if not below, indie horror flick. Disappointing. My rating: 4/10.
absolutely the most cringy movie ever! there are so many holes and questions. don't waste your time watching this movie and put in another movie instead
When they compile the list of worst movie endings ever, "St. Agatha" deserves an honorable mention, which, ironically, is more than this Netflix waste of time deserves.
The whole plot is predictable and boring. The only horror moments are two jump scares. We laugh a lot on how bad this movie is. They tell you e-ve-ry-thing, so it makes you think is like a radio show reenactment: it has zero use of cinematographic language. Visual effects are nonexistent and the acting is meh. I bet it will be one of those "so bad that it's good" kind of movies.
I interpreted this movie as an alternate version of Jabcob's Ladder. Mary was guilty about the death of her son and the movie was about her dealing with that so she could be a good mother to her new child. I did not take the movie at face value. There were too many staggering contradictions of reality for it to be possible.
writers: *puffing blunt* bro what if we made a horror movie out of the handmaid's tale and then it happened. blatant fucking ripoff
