What to Know

Critics Consensus

Nemesis has an interesting premise and some good action scenes, but the whole affair feels a bit tired.

Jake Cole Slant Magazine Nemesis looks as anonymous as it feels, a project that almost resembles an unrelated sci-fi movie with the Star Trek brand hastily plastered on for added brand value. Apr 5, 2023 Full Review Barbara Ellen Times (UK) It's not bad, really. It is also the tenth Star Trek movie, which means an awful lot of celluloid featuring grown men wearing children's stretchy pyjamas and standing behind plasterboard consoles looking purposeful. Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Lots of sci-fi action mixed in with messages about peace. Rated: 3/5 Dec 28, 2010 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Almost everything about Star Trek: Nemesis, both what’s on the screen and what’s not, proves disappointing for longtime and casual Star Trek fans. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 30, 2023 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Ends the TNG run with neither a bang nor a whimper but something in between. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 8, 2023 Full Review James Croot The Post NZ Although action pulsates through the story -- and it all builds to a suitably gripping climax -- Nemesis never really felt like a fitting send-off for the Next Generation crew. Markus L I was expecting this to be one of the worst ones, but I actually think this was one of the better ones, and it was cool to see Tom Hardy, he looked ridiculous, but did a good performance Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Cees T Shinzon has more drip than Megamind but less zip than Dr. Evil. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/28/25 Full Review Ethan K While Star Trek: Nemesis gets a lot of flack for what it is, I think it's safe to say that the film has grown on me. While it isn't perfect in the slightest, it does make for a rather entertaining experience. My only criticism is that the pacing can get sluggish at times, but that's really it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Dan S (spoilers head) I kinda disagree with a lot of the reviews here, I think as a self contained Star Trek movie it did a hell of a lot right. Maybe more could have been made of the dichotomy of the 'two Picards' turning out as different as they did and more should have been made of Data dying but I really enjoyed the themes explored, the mind games between Picard and Shinzon and the battles between the Scimitar and the Enterprise, the former being an absolute masterclass in evil ship design. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/25 Full Review Julian L Despite the performances, it's surprising how Star Trek movies went from a campy positive attitude with moral values to dark depressing, horror movies. Even First Contact had comical relief and the whole thing was about first contact with the Vulcans, and Wrath of Khan has a great ending with Kirk's connection of feeling young with Genesis. This also tries to copy Wrath of Khan's plot formula, but the result isn't positive. 4.70/10. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review Stephen C LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
