Star Trek: Nemesis Reviews
Almost everything about Star Trek: Nemesis, both what’s on the screen and what’s not, proves disappointing for longtime and casual Star Trek fans.

Ends the TNG run with neither a bang nor a whimper but something in between.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Apr 8, 2023
Nemesis looks as anonymous as it feels, a project that almost resembles an unrelated sci-fi movie with the Star Trek brand hastily plastered on for added brand value.

Although action pulsates through the story -- and it all builds to a suitably gripping climax -- Nemesis never really felt like a fitting send-off for the Next Generation crew.

Baird takes the franchise back to the clunky tedium of "Generations," staging endless shootouts between one computer-generated ship and another computer-generated ship.

Nemesis, released in the long shadow cast on American storytelling by the horrific events of 9/11, feels like the reluctant last gasp of Star Trek's second era.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Feb 16, 2021
The space battles are quite thrilling, even if the threat of killing off a main cast member is nonexistent and the enemy goal of destroying Earth is laughably impossible.

Unless you're a fan with a long memory or a short attention span, sit this mission out.

Nemesis boldly goes where no one has gone before. And be this the final journey or the beginning of a new journey, it's been one heckuva trek. Live long and prosper.

The least involving, least cohesive movie in the entire ten picture catalog.

It's not bad, really. It is also the tenth Star Trek movie, which means an awful lot of celluloid featuring grown men wearing children's stretchy pyjamas and standing behind plasterboard consoles looking purposeful.

Feels, unmistakably, like Paramount and everybody involved was trying to get through it as fast as possible, dumping the series in an alley to let the rats gnaw at the body.
| Original Score: 4/10 | Jun 6, 2013
Lots of sci-fi action mixed in with messages about peace.
