Stay Reviews
A cerebral trip that’s more a feeling than a story. Shot in a unique & striking way with wild editing & incredible scene transitions. It all fuels the psychological noir tone in a great way. Yet it thinks it’s very deep but lacks a good narrative.
The critics obviously didn’t understand the film, which is embarrassing for them, but quite hilarious. It’s a really great movie though and is hugely rewarding on a second viewing where the twist ending will suddenly make complete sense all along. Highly enjoyable and well acted and will tug at your heart if you aren’t soulless.
Very interesting movie. Keeps you thinking and re-interprets what you are really watching, like in a dream vs reality that is never sure where you are. Excellent cinematography and editing, which absolutely helps you know the story of the dream-reality you see. Also, another example of why one should not take critics seriously: they didn't get the movie, proving they are a bunch of pretentious idiots.
A lost soul (Gosling), seems destined for some horrible end. (Ewan McGregor) A psychiatrist tries to help him, but at this point the film enters a rabbit hole. Nothing makes sense, this is a mind f**k of epic proportions.
What's wrong with people? What are these ratings? It's a joke, right? This film is an absolute masterpiece! The story, the dialogues, the acting, the directing, the cinematography (OMG!), the whole package! 100% is my rating, no question about it!
This movie is a hidden gem. Who knows what happens in the brain while dying?
What’s with all the terrible reviews?? I think this movie is one the most moving explorations on death I’ve ever seen. Not since Jacob’s Ladder has a movie captured my soul so thoroughly. I’ve seen this movie six times and I never tire of it!
Stay wastes the talent of its stars on a chaotic and incomprehensible movie. It was hard to turn away from Ryan Gosling's performance despite predicting the plot twist half way through.
By far the worst movie I’ve seen in a long time. A good cast and the acting was solid, but the storyline was weak and the movie dragged on forever. Im a huge movie buff and can appreciate many movies even if they’re not amazing, but this was a total bore. Not recommended at all.
A misunderstood gem that is needed to be watched repeatedly to understand the message. Hidden diamond in the rough. Masterpiece.
Godawful film school pretentious nonsense. Thought it was gonna have a predictable Fight Club style twist but the actual ending is much worse. Meaningless, ugly, and most of all, boring. I love the sort of reality bending stuff but this just doesn't go anywhere. Totally wasted stacked cast. No wonder I had never heard of it. I rarely say it, but I wish I'd never watched this. A waste of time.
Imagine talented people making a movie that utilizes all cringey aspects of early 2000's filmmaking. All the directing, writing, editing, cinematography and post "Sixth Sense" mandatory twists that were hot for a brief moment after 2000 are painfully present in Stay. And the movie has aged ( embarrassingly ) badly. Stay is the worst possible time capsule. Hated it.
Complete rubbish, very bad direction, the actors play like stones, the plot is a stupid parody of Lynch + a little Fincher. The best thing in the film is the opening scene with the accident, it was well shot, but the film was a waste, I shouldn't have watched it
I guess filmmakers thought the ending was genius. no, it is not
style over substance and it dosent pay off.
Ryan Gosling is very in this film. I wish the film had a plot.
it was until the end. the movie collapsed like a pancake
i am speechless how bad this film
