Stomp the Yard Reviews
With out the subplots this movie would've won awards
This is a great movie. It's very motivational, inspirational, dramatic and heartwarming. The battles are so off the chain that they tell a story by themselves.
"A troubled street dancer".....wow, what ex Hollywood executive green lit this hot mess. Dance movies in the 21st century are just bad.
Lots of young beautiful tight muscular black bodies fill the screen. There's way too much testosterone. This movie has the same formulaic plot as so many others: two rival dance squads with member of each falling for same gorgeous rich girl. The poor underdog wins it all in the end through his sheer determination and hard work. There is also a lot of high energy stepping and stomping.
Stomp The Yard is emotional and toe-tapping. The film packs some decent performances from its' mediocre cast but it's the dancing that takes the cake alongside a somewhat inspiring story.
Dj and his brother Duron is a dancer on Los Angeles. Duron was killed by his opponent during a battle of dance. The uncle of Dj the welcome in Atlanta. He study in the prestigious university. He gets noticed by his talent of dancer. Dj is a champion of street dance in LA but in atlanta he has to learn the rules of the steppin. He decides to join in a group « Theta nu Theta ». Dj is attracted by girlfriend of his opponent, the leader of « Mu Gamma Xi » group. His atypical and spectacular style boosts the competition and made succumb the attractive April... it's a very good film... it's my favorite film !
Stepper moves not bad. Nothing else other than that. Weak story line. The biggest problem to education nowadays is that it is far too easy for a kid's wrongdoing to be told as 'it's not your fault, don't blame yourself too hard'.
The stepping was pretty cool, but the rest of the film comes up short. Too much going on, and the protagonist is somewhat of a chump.
Tous les films de dance se ressemble. La même histoire qui revient encore et encore...
There are moments of inspirational racial pride sprinkled in among the melodrama and dance sequences, but they are quickly swept away by the contrivances and clichés that ultimately inundate the film.
loved this film. got a bit teary when Chris Brown's character died. The choreography is bloody brilliant! Wouldn't mind owning this movie some day
One of the worst dance movies I've ever seen. The opening scene of the movie might lure you to watch the rest of it but just a friendly caveat, don't watch it lest you get disappointed. The plot, cinematography, and even the actors were bad. The characters didn't seem credible, at all. In a nutshell, the movie is very amature.
I liked the movie... yes it reminded me kinda of drumline and you got served... but was still enjoyable movie to watch and the guys werent hard to look at either...
