In 1997, television commercial director Mark Moskowitz finally got around to reading a novel he had owned for 25 years, "The Stones of Summer" by Dow Mossman. Enthused about the coming-of-age novel, he was surprised to learn that its author had apparently written nothing else after its publication. In the course of tracking down the elusive author through conversations with critics and professors, Moskowitz examines the relationship between art and life, as it pertains to writers and readers.

It's a really great movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/26/24 Full Review Audience Member Here's an obscure documentary about an obscure book written by an obscure writer, and the documentary maker's hunt for answers - that is, for the secret of why this excellent first novel went out of print. It seems the author stopped writing and disappeared. Who is the author, really? Is he still alive? Why didn't the book get more press? Why is it out of print? Why isn't there another novel? The documentary was filmed as answers to these questions were sought. First the search is in vain. Then a clue turns up... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
