The film was average for several reasons: 1) The story is flat, it has literally no connection to the original work. 2) The characters are absolutely awful, especially the Goombas and Yoshi (who is a Velociraptor, as a reminder), along with the Bob-Omb setting, which, let's be honest, is the only positive point here. 3) Some of the special effects are hilarious, some are so well done, some are PowerPoint-based. 4) Some of the characters in the film didn't even deserve to appear, and the idea of ​​making Bowser human is a terrible idea. And 5) The second positive point is the soundtracks. Okay, we didn't get any Mario music except at the beginning of the film, but otherwise, it's still a bit of a reminder. Otherwise, I really liked the soundtracks from start to finish. Just watching "Super Mario Bros. The Movie" from my favorite studio "Illumination" is way more fun!

I think we all have a few favorite films that make everyone else look at us a little funny, and this is one of mine! Since I was a kid, I could watch this movie again and again. While most (definitely not all) fan complaints are valid and understandable, I think anyone who goes into this movie openly can have a good time with it. I know I still do.

Hear me out but its not a bad movie, but it isnt great. The plot is interesting and got me hooked, to be honest, the characters were ok for the most part, but you just cant try putting it into mario. it just isnt mario. You cant fit the triangle in the circle hole. change the names or smth and it wouldve been a 3.5 for me, but this movie was made in '93 so its not like anything soon will happen.

After years of going back and forth between loving it and hating it, I can definitely now say that Super Mario Bros is an epic sci-fi video game adaption with fun easter eggs for us old school gamers.

For being the first ever video game adaptation it didn't hold up in 93, after rewatching it it feels like it was actually going somewhere, because like if this movie had no Mario and Luigi this movie would have been very interesting like the concept of Dinohatten sounds really cool and felt like siberpunk 2077, and it would be amazing to see a sequel after 20 years. Also the ending felt like a to be continued but never make a sequel. So therefore "After 20 years this still ain't no game!" -Super Mario Bros. (1993)

Truly, a hidden gem! This film is honestly very enjoyable if you drop all expectations for a video game adaptation, and enjoy the content as more of a gesturing nod towards the games.
