Tomris Laffly Variety Charlie Gillespie is a revelation in Linsey Stewart and Dane Clark’s warm empty-nester dramedy, which shares the spirit of a great Nicole Holofcener indie. Feb 15, 2025 Full Review Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (LAist) It's a very stealthy film about suicide... Very good and thoughtful. Feb 11, 2025 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com Gage could have been manic-pixie-dream-boy material, but Gillespie’s depth and sensitivity as an actor keep Gage as an individual, a real person you could know in the world. Rated: 3/4 Feb 7, 2025 Full Review Jim Schembri jimschembri.com There are some warm and funny conversational moments sprinkled throughout, and Watkins acquits herself very well yet the rhythm of the romance is ultimately too haphazard, making the deliberately messy relationship a bit too hard to buy into. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Frank J. Avella The Contending Watkins has a terrific part and brings tremendous nuance and authenticity to ‘Suze,’ a woman who rarely thinks about her own happiness. Her arc is never forced, she earns it...Gillespie is a revelation... Rated: A- Feb 24, 2025 Full Review Murjani Rawls Substream Magazine The film doesn’t find a soft landing because life is complicated like that. But it’s nice to know you’ll find people to ride the turbulence out with along the way. Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Mitch K Reviews thus far nailed it, this was chicken noodle soup for the soul Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/25/25 Full Review Audience Member Precious from beginning to end Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Peggy L Michaela Watkins and Charlie Gillespie are the perfect foils for each other. At first inhabitants of opposite emotional poles of Suze’s daughter, Brook (Sara Weisglass), Suze (portrayed brilliantly by Michaela Watkins) begins to slowly open to Gage (played perfectly by Charlie Gillespie) through a maternal portal when he is abandoned by his father in his hour of need. It’s a film that gives us hope about healing divides and embracing our common humanity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/25 Full Review Dawn C Omg this is the first movie in YEARS that kept me attention and really hit home!!!! LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review Ben H It is a gem! Perhaps, one of the best movies I have seen in months. It is reminiscent of movies by Nicole Holofcener. And one of her regulars, Michaela Watkins, takes centerstage here. Similarities aside, this movie really pulls on your heart strings. Here, one cannot praise enough Charlie Gillespie for a brilliant performance. If you need a break from the violence and body horror that's currently dominating cinemas, give this one a try. You won't regret it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Phyllis C Suze, is one of the greatest movies with the best actors. As always, Michaela Watkins is terrific. I have never missed anything she has ever been in !!! Charlie Gillespie is a revelation! He is a true talent with incredible range. He is a gift!! There are no car chases, stabbings, or super heroes, just real people having real conversations and working on their relationships and evolving as human beings. I loved these characters and didn't want to let them go. Don't miss this movie! Please remember this movie for award season!!!! Not only is Michaela one of the best actresses..apparently a great cook too! What did she put in that grilled cheese? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
