Ted Bundy Reviews
A Gross Exploitative Film On Real Life Events That Feel Like This Film's Target Audience Are Folks Like Bundy. The use of Real News Footage is "Maybe" the Only interesting part of this film. The lead is a Solid fit, but also goes for the cliche predictable approach. The script is nothing to be impressed over, and the timeline and facts aren't all well put together. I know he did horrible things, but I don't need to see Bundy window peeping and "playing with his pants" while making the grossest face or actually R-ing women. The treatment of his girlfriend is depressing. The kills are overdone, the music is misplaced, and it doesn't feel like the investigation was even considered at all for this film. The ending sequence speeds through too much only to linger on his execution. This movie doesn't properly prioritize what elements were important to focus on just to turn our stomachs upside down. D- 2.1/10 Like Bundy, Send This Film To The Chair Skip It
Hands down the best movie about Ted Bundy. Saw this first when I was about 15 , this was in the days before Internet was big, and true crime documentaries weren't everywhere. Now obviously ide heard the term serial killer etc. But man this was a mind blowing eye opener at the time into just how crazy some of these people are. Now I guessed it would have generally bad reviews , and being called exploitive etc. But that's not what this movie is about atall. It must be crazy difficult to make a movie with the central character who's leading every scene being this disgusting serial killer. And keep him interesting enough, and making the film entertaining still to keep viewers watching. And this movie does that pretty perfectly really. It doesn't try an make excuses for him by showing some sad scene from his childhood, or even in the scenes with his partner and her child you soon quickly see his darker side show. Overall I think this a great performance, and grat direction from Matthew Bright
In my opinion this movie was more of a B slasher film with no plot. It made me physically ill with its 90 minutes of utter GORE!
100% could have been better
This was probably done by a bloke fresh from receiving a degree in film studies and decided to make a shocking film. It is not that shocking because like all of the films from the same time that involves hideous sexual attacks it is told from the point of view of the serial killer. This means that it is very hard to emotionally connect with the victims and you almost connect with the serial killer more. This is the wrong way around. This is not scary at all but it is interesting and holds your attention. The musical score is amazing. With a little more tension or fear or a more interesting ending would make this a good film. More emotion needed. This is not graphically violent but it is violent through sexual violations and implication mainly. Don't fight to see this.
It is an extremely romanticized version of the real story: in fact if you already know something about the event, you can clearly see the discrepancies between the truth of the murders and the movie. Even worse, If you're not aware if the events, you get a completely distorted idea about the sequence of events and the ruthless, remorseless and cruel killer.
Boring garbage. You're better off YouTubing Ted Bundy if you'd like segments with ACCURATE information.
The performances are good but the film has nothing to say about its subject, and the script is terrible.
Making a movie about a real serial killer is no easy task. These are real people, and their victims are real people with family members. At the same time, this is not supposed to be a documentary and people want to see a movie, so cinematic elements need to be present. It is a difficult task to pull this off when the main character is such a horrific person, are we supposed to feel sympathy for them? Are they meant to be portrayed as some sort of hero? If so, that is pretty tasteless. "Ted Bundy" shows serial killer, Ted Bundy, go from one grisly act to another all while trying to maintain some semblance of a normal life. This movie doesn't dive deep into Bundy's psyche, which is too bad. It really just shows that he knew how to manipulate and charm people. It doesn't establish his motivation into why he kills his victims, rather this movie seems to be aiming a lot more at shock value than it is a deep analysis into the life of a serial killer. It definitely doesn't hold back very much from the violence and blood. I just think with these type of movies there needs to be a balance between showing the act and reasons behind why the act happened. We see the violent acts a lot here, but not much of reasons as to why. We can puzzle together that it is because he wants to be in control and he's a sociopath, but there has got to be more to it than that. The plot moves along at a decent enough clip. It is fairly accurate to the real story, and the end is mostly satisfying. Michael Reilley Burke does a good job of playing Bundy, he has the charm to pull it off and is also able to be nasty when need be. However, I do think there are a few moments where he is a bit over the top. The acting from several others is mediocre at best. The film portrays women in a very bad light. It makes all of the victims seem so naive and airheaded. I don't think this film does the victims any justice. This movie does feel more like a slasher than a biography movie. It is not that great, but if you want to feel extremely unsettled by the acts of Ted Bundy, give it a watch. Overall, I give this movie a 5/10.
Very hard and disturbing movie to watch but good way to teach young woman and men to not trust strangers till you know who they are and also remind the world of sick and evil of man Ted Bundy truly was and show people the consequences of his crimes
So, this movie is really really messed up, and I don't recommend this to anyone who can't handle sexual violence or blood and all, but I actually really liked this movie. The story was good, cinematography was good, and the acting was amazing. It really shows the story of Ted Bundy and the horrible events that took place. 75%
This is one of the few movies about a serial killer that I think captures both sides of the complicated psyche that they have to have to exist in the world. You see how charming and nice he can be then you see the real him. Yeah this movie didn't get good reviews but they didn't add a bunch of crazy b.s. to make this movie a hit. It's true to the real life fucked up that is Ted Bundy and that's what makes this a killer movie!
The best portrayal of a real serial killer you will ever see. It showcases everything from the insignificant idiosyncrasies to the absolute brutality of Ted Bundy wonderfully. It is often disgusting and cringe inducing but the moments in between when Bundy is committing petty theft, peeping through a window, or wearing the mask of humanity are all performed convincingly.
The scene where they are prepping him for the electric chair is intense. overall this is a solid B film
Dubbed as the Boogie Nights of Serial Killer movies, this sardonic interpretation of the crimes of serial killer Ted Bundy are exaggerated to a fault. This gave the movie a hilarious edge, but slowly backs up to remind us why we shouldn't be laughing. Michael Reilly Burke gives a terrific performance as Bundy.
great movie but there are some scenes that nobody wants to see in a horror movie but what do you expect, its based on a true story.
