Teen Witch Reviews
Whatever points Teen Witch gets for its upbeat message has to be penalized by the plebeian way it is handled on several fronts.

Dull, talky and jam-packed with terrible performances, who knows which witch is which in the whammyless Teen Witch.
| Original Score: 1/4 | Feb 16, 2024
All in all, Teen Witch is harmless fun. I can think of worse ways to spend two hours at the movies -- a lot of them.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Feb 16, 2024
The message of the well-constructed but unsurprising script by Robin Menken and Vernon Zimmerman is practically lit in neon, and fails to adequately address the cruelty of the "haves" vs, "have-nots" caste system.

Zelda also has the movie's worst line: "The real magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen!" Guess the makers of Teen Witch just didn't believe in themselves enough.

The movie is aimed at pre-teens and teens who long for popularity and dates with the school quarterback. This, in fact, would be the perfect movie for a slumber party of 11-year-olds.

Teen Witch is an all-around delicious flick, both despite and because of the afterschool special quality of its message.

Walker provides something familiar that's appealing to those hungering for a surprisingly pure shot of sincerity, keeping the picture cheeky and bizarre, but also universal with its themes of social acceptance and displays of fantasy power.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Feb 16, 2024
It is a fun escape, though, even now.

It does present a positive message, which is that no matter how unpopular you are you can always call upon the powers of the dark lord Satan to make people like you.

Teen Witch continues to be a fun journey through archetypes and the 80s camp that's singular to romantic comedies of that era. It's also a powerful reminder that being ourselves and accepting who we are can be powerful magic of its own.
| Original Score: 3/5 | May 24, 2020
Unless you were one of those people who grew up watching it air on cable over and over again, Teen Witch probably isn't going to register much of a blip on your interest meter.

The unapologetic cheesiness and truly awful values of "Teen Witch" is often so bad, and yet so damn charming to endure.
| Feb 2, 2016
Tubular '80s teen fluff: silly, fun, and shallow.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 18, 2010
A fantasy, comedy, romance, and musical all for the price of one, with such only-in-a-great-bad-movie treats as a 'funky' white rapper busting into rhyme every now and then.

...there's not much else here to keep viewers over a certain age engaged.

A treasure from the golden age of comedies
Full Review | Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 23, 2005
Notwithstanding its supernatural elements, the film is basically a standard teenage love story (a squeaky clean one at that) with several unmemorable musical numbers thrown in.
