The Babadook Reviews
My cousin Adam recommended this movie (wasteman), if I could give it less then 0.5 stars, I would... not even finished the movie yet and I'm just waiting for it to end. There is about 10 of us in the room watching it. No ones saying it... but they are all bored AF, just waiting for it to end now so can go sleep.
Really not a good movie at all and believe me I tried. Sometimes I have to watch a movie more than once to appreciate it but it doesn't happen with this one. The concept is nice but the execution and acting aren't appealing to me
Low Budget horror movie where the antagonist is mostly left up to your imagination. Good acting does not carry the simple plot nor the cheap special effects. High RT rating completely undeserved. Interestingly the Audience Reviews are very polarised between 1/2 and 1 stars and 4 - 5 stars. Seems the average should be around 30% ? I suspect there are a lot of fake reviews by friends and colleagues of the production team ? It was a pain to hang in until the end, frustrated more by a poor FF facility of the streaming provider.
Excellent, Suspenseful movie with incredible acting, especially from the child actor. This movie, at 10 years old already, will be a classic. The Rotten Tomato score is SPOT ON with 98%!
Well that was an absolute waste of time and this is meant to be scary it's was just downright weird .
the dog…. it’s gone!!!! babadookie wasn’t pookie enough for me. damn that’s one creepy ass kid. the kid is the horror movie frfr. almost as scary as mr boogie. shhhhhhh. anyhoo!!!! this was the worst movie i’ve ever moovied in my entire life chat. 0/9. this was soo not skib gangster. i wish the mom died tbh that hoe was mad crazy. works??? why did she keep it as a sex slave. like dawg.
This is definitely one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. Not only was it terrifying, but it really made me care about the characters. I highly recommend it for horror fans!
The BabaDook is one of my favorite elevated horror movies of all time it's a must watch on mother hood depression and grief and I love the scary supernatural elements in it
This was hands down the worst movie I’ve ever watched in my life. There is absolutely no context about how the Babadok character came to be or any back story . Just a series of random effects of everything typical you’d expect in a horror movie , seeing visions , being dragged by unknown forces … and somehow not once did it actually scare me one little bit and I scare easily. I have no idea what’s 98% about this movie . The ending is also very disappointing. Just don’t waste your time watching this.
What a disappointment. Heard and read the movie was the epitome of psycho/horror thrills. Hmmm...well it certainly takes a superficial look at mental illness (Essie Davis as Amelia), and her son Sam (Noah Wiseman) play the parts of dysfunctional family struggling to adjust after the fathers death....on Noah's birth date (obviously). Noah is annoying and Amelia crumbles under weight of..what, we're not sure. A book appears that talks about a horrific entity Babadook. Amelia and son read story one bed time. Things turn slightly more worrying when unexplained noises and visions occur in the home. From this point the film doesn't progress one inch. Something bad is there and..that's it. Director tries to make sense of matters by reincarnating Amelia's husband 'Bring me the boy'...but its no more than candyfloss. What Babadook offers are sanitised creeps for folk who consume 'horror-lite'. The only disturbing aspect pf the film is that I devoted 90 minutes of my life to it. Babadook is The Omen done half as well for ten times the budget. What a let down.
Hands down the worst film I’ve seen in my life. This is the benchmark upon which I rate all of the worst films I’ve ever seen, and nothing yet comes close.
this movie SUCKS. slow burn, not scary at all, not enough dramatic effect, acting isnt great, ending is weird. don’t recommend it is ASS
i didn't understand this movie at all until my dad explained that it was about grief. now i look at it entirely differently.
Scared the bejeezus out of me but felt too many angles hanging. I may wave to watch again - with all lights ON!! Great acting... the boy was fantastically frightening (and not when he shouldn't be.)
This is a fantastic psychological horror film, both disturbing and surreal at times. The lead actress is fantastic, and it's such a different role from her Miss Fisher, she's virtually unrecognizable. If you're looking for cheap thrills and chills, watch a different movie, but give Babadook your time and patience and you'll be rewarded.
Did not get scared once but had to watch a dog getting killed. What a great movie
This movie was not at all what I had believed it was going to be. The movie follows a mother and son who has had a hellish experience together in the past as they try to fend off this creature playing with the mother’s mind, called The Babadook. The interesting part? The Babadook is never seen once throughout the entire length of the film even though it is present in many scenes. This movie is scary and creepy with many moments that are unnerving, but it does so without relying on jumpscares or horrifying faces or the likes of that. It just played a psychological game with the audience which made this movie a wild ride for me.
