The Believer Reviews
Its strengths are counterbalanced by narrative weaknesses that pull the viewer out of the experience.

Gosling takes full advantage of The Believer’s compelling story to deliver an unforgettable psychological portrait of a man who is literally his own worst enemy.

People have a right to make godless films. Bean's made one, and it's as brilliant as it is humane.

Gosling's Danny is frighteningly believable, in his mad hatreds and when gradually confronting inner doubts.

It's an explosive and disturbing film that forces the audience to ask difficult questions about the nature of belief.

An uncomfortable experience, but one as brave and challenging as you could possibly expect these days from American cinema.

The Believer is packed to the gills with various speeches and lectures and theological bantering. Much of it ends with someone getting a baseball bat to the head.

this polarizing film deserves a wider audience
