The Binge Reviews
It was one of the funniest movies that's come out in years. Which isn't saying much but still. Not every movie needs to be some deep, introspective bs. Sometimes you just wanna watch a funny movie, with great characters, and a ridiculous concept. That's what this movie is. It's entertainment, stop taking everything so seriously.
“The Purge” is sickeningly original, unlike its parodical equivalence, with similar sickness though – not to mention more tolerable, of pathetic consumption underlying shallow characterization pretty much thirsting through the “Beerfest” routine rather than acknowledging how similar endeavors fare better with occasionally utter enjoyability. Could it be that’s the point behind the so-called creativity with frivolity as its definitive commentary? At a passerby distance, it still stirs up some laughs by timing adjacent to Vince Vaughn’s comedic energy. (B-)
It's a witty comedy that has its funny moments but story wise it's a huge letdown. Started out incredible. Interesting ‘Purge' like inspired content that hadn't been done before in comedy. But sometime around the Mushroom Trip it becomes very dull. If you are okay with GOOD/BAD comedies this is probably for you.
Audience score says it all. It's a fun movie with a lot of memorable moments. One in particular I'll quote for the remainder of my days. It's a coming of age comedy. While clearly not as good, I'd put it in the vein of super bad and youth in revolt. Not sure why critics expected this movie to rival avengers endgame for some reason. They just gotta suck it down pipe, and they'll be happy for it.
Genuinely cringed morr at the stupidity that laughed at anything. Nothing really makes any sense to the degree it's not entertaining anymore.
One of my favorite comfort comedys its nothing tasteful or fancy its the movie equivalent of that local hole in wall take-out place you love but its well worth seeing if your a fan of wacky crude comedys like say harold and comar
A solidly funny purge/Superbadish type movie ignore the negative reviews this was good 4.0. I laughed a good amount
Everything else is too sensitive or cancelled but we can promote drug addiction and alcoholism, good to know. Vince Vaughn was worth 2 stars.
Continuing the tradition of teen coming of age flicks with nothing new to add. Vince Vaughn is still the life of the party.
oh my god why are the movie critics dissing this funny ass movie so hard 😭😭😭
Criminally underrated movie. This movie has everything I could ask for. This movie has every high school movie cliche while also raising the bar for streaming service movie productions. For no good reason this movie breaks out into a six minute musical that brought tears to my eyes. Nothing in this movie is predictable, but that's what makes it so fun. If you want to watch a movie where everything makes a reasonable amount of sense and follows a logical plot then watch something else and honestly stay away from me that's so boring ew. But if you want to watch a drug addled masterpiece might I suggest finding some friends and some snacks and watching this movie and having some laughs. I personally watched this movie instead of the Super Bowl and let me tell you, it was a million times more entertaining. Watch it, seriously it has Eduardo Franco and he is the best thing t0 happen to streaming service movies.
It was ok if you're looking for some mindless humor. Vince Vaughn was funny and the other characters had their moments.
Typical guy likes girl that doesn't have a clue he must go through adventures to end up impressing her. Very Superbad like with the one day a year drug use premise which seemed like big deal in beginning then just faded out and become typical party movie. Had a few laughs.
"The Binge" isn't art or any sort of comedic genius, but I thought it was decent fun. Knowing the premise of this movie, I think it delivers what it promises. Some of the jokes definitely don't work but some situations the characters were in were pretty ridiculous and funny. I think the movie could have explored the concept a bit more, but it is still inventive enough overall. There are many better party movies out there and this one isn't particularly memorable, but for fans of this type of raunchy comedy, I think there are far worse ways to spend an hour and a half.
Perfect entry into a glorious genre that critics love to hate. The comedic timing of the actors and quick oddball lines definitely make it well worth a 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc watch. I missed most of the Pompano Mike scene the 1st time since I was laughing through it. The actors are all excellent up and comers (2 from Booksmart) plus an intense, off the wall performance from Vince Vaughn. It's not overly raunchy and moves quickly from bizarre situation to more bizarre situation culminating in an epic competition. Ultimately it's not perfect but it's got plenty of laughs for the average sense of humor/wit and is a great escapist flick to throw on and forget about the world we live in. That's a quality I'm increasingly looking for in the casual movies I watch.
It wasn't the best movie ever but who tf would think it would be. Vince Vaughn kills it and is hilarious in all of his scenes. The rest of the movie is just a solid watch not anything special but not bad at all.
