The Celestine Prophecy Reviews
A horrible story telling by a movie. It is like not even a movie but a lecture for some people
The storyline is totally contrived. But, this is the purpose, to highlight the principles that allow us to evolve into the next level/dimension. I found it interesting and, at times, fascinating. The movie leaves you with an uplifting feeling.
This movie creates awareness in the viewer if the viewer opens up their mind to the reality of we all have an energy given to us by God. What we do with that energy is up to us. In other words for good or evil. God has always given us a choice.
This is a non-Hollywood independent film controlled by the original author to prevent the message from being warped. An accurate adaptation of James Redfield's classic novel would be very long and bogged down with heavy dialogue scenes, so they chose not to do that. The movie distills the true essence of the Celestine Insights to very basic form - I think at least one insight was only one or two sentences in the film. This is the bare bones introduction for people who just won't read the book. If those people like the ideas in the movie, they may be more inspired to read it after watching the film. If you have read the novel but it's been a while, then this movie will serve as a good refresher of the insights but leave you thirsty for more, a thirst that can only be quenched by rereading the original novel. The movie is a tad revisionist in a good way - It makes some actual improvements to the plot that either occurred to the author after publishing the book or came from suggestions of others. But the framework for the Insights from the original novel shine through. Trust your synchronicity!
Celestine Prophecy is one of the best Spiritual Movie which shows importance of synchronicity, ability to perceive energy and thought forms persuading Soul perception. I read books way back in 2006.
Bottom line: The overall message is beautiful .....BUT: This film is kinda corny. It's like one of those terribly overdone Christian movies, only this one is open to many beliefs rather than just Christianity alone. It's philosophical content is respectable in the sense that it gets the wheels turning, but it's also a little amateurish. What I liked about this film is that while the movie itself may feel a bit forced, the message is not. There is no pressure from some underlying propaganda trying to religiously "convert" the viewer's beliefs. Also if you like the Davinci Code, then you'll probably like this one. Overall, decent movie...worth watching.
Mildly interesting in a new-agey kind of way; but ultimately this movie delivers a whole lot of nothing much.
EXCELLENT book, HORRIBLE movie. It doesn't accurately follow the story line of the book at all, and it looks like they tried to jam the major points of the movie in 1.5hrs, and missed the whole point of the movie to start with: the insights. I read the book, LOVED it, and showed my husband the movie, and it wasn't even the same. I feel like he won't read the book now, which is a shame because the book teaches you some very useful and valuable and point that the movie doesn't even show. If you're not a reader, I suggest you go get a copy of the book, sit down and start reading, and you'll find yourself reading the book in a couple of days. If there's one good thing I can say about the movie, it's that, if you watch the movie before you read the book, you can actually still go read the book and be interested because it's THAT different. GO BUY THE BOOK!
Awsom movie... Makes Me wonder if the crazy religious People R the ones that hold the truth and the rest of us R jus in a fog!!!
This spiritual adventure film based on James Redfield's worldwide best-selling novel, The Celestine Prophecy is chronicling the discovery of ancient scrolls in the rainforests of Peru. The story introduces us (not very effectively) to the prophecy and its nine key insights predicting a worldwide awakening, arising within all religious traditions, that moves humanity toward a deeper experience of spirituality. Because I am a historian and archaeologist, I love Peru and spending time there, and I am a teacher (as the main character) who loves references to vibrations and energy - it was natural that I wanted to see this movie (I missed it originally because I was in the jungle with an expedition )... For those who are not familiar with the book it'll be a little bit confusing, especially when you have to process in a short time advices to avoid the negative (you can tell good people by their eyes), stop doubting, follow your intuitions and premonitions, flow with coincidences, believe in the purposiveness of everything, join thousands of others on the quest, tune into your feelings and evolve to a higher plane... On the other side, people who love the book almost hate the movie! Why? Because of the high expectations and missed opportunity. Due to the fact that The Celestine Prophecy novel sold over 23 million copies since its publication in 1993 and has thus become one of the best-selling books of all time, everyone expected the film to be a success. However, the film was a disappointment for most of the fans of the Celestine prophecy theory. The cinematography wasn't bad, the story was clumsy, special effects not something you could be proud of... but I really wonder what were these guys thinking casting Matthew Settle as John Woodson... I have no idea... Thomas Kretschmann as (sterile look) Wil wasn't better choice, and I have no words to describe Sarah Wayne Callies as Marjorie and Annabeth Gish as Julia! The only one worth mentioning in the "acting department" is Hector Elizondo as Fr. Sebastian , who was just average. I like the idea, but the execution could be done so much better!
This sounded like a good film and the trailer looked good too, but it really wasn't at all. It had a semi-decent cast but just wasn't as good as i thought it would be.
The Celestine Prophecy has got to be the most boring film ever made. A total waste of time from start to finish. I never read the book, and won't after seeing this trash. But man was this film pointless and lame. I never seen something so crappy. The film has a terrible plot, and worse acting. I here the book is great, but after watching this, I'm not so much interested anymore. I think that the film could have been a good one, but it feels so cheap, and preachy that it's laughable. The cast here are terrible, and theres not really impressive names here. I thought the film was a missed opportunity and maybe, maybe could have been something really good. But instead The Celestine Prophecy is simply a bore fest from start to finish, and you're waiting for something interesting to happen, but it doesn't. The Celestine Prophecy is a waste of Celluloid This film shouldn't have been made and it was a poor execution of a popular book. What The Celestine Prophecy is, is a film that tries to be something spiritual and feel good, but it ends frustratingly painful for the viewer to watch. Finishing watching this film was a chore, and now I can only hope to warn potential viewers that this film simply sucks, and is not worth watching. This is a wasted film that has a stupid, pointless script that doesn't go nowhere. The film fails at being spiritual, and ends up being very cheesy. One of the worst film ever made for sure.
