Years ago I went down a rabbit hole looking for the most brutal film I could find to see if I could tolerate it. It鈥檚 too bad at the time The Coffee Table had not been made yet. While it鈥檚 not filled with the gore of the films I was watching at that time, it鈥檚 simple but horrific plot line is so disturbing that it leaves you feeling depleted. There鈥檚 elements to this film that help the viewer from having a full blown major depressive episode upon enduring, such as some small comedic elements such as the sleazy table salesman, the 13-year old admirer in the apartment building, and some of the dynamics between characters, but when the 鈥渆vent鈥� that changes everything hits, even if you saw it coming it is hard to deny the intensity of that moment. The acting and cinematography of this film were on point and I overall give the filmmakers and actors a lot of credit, this is a gutsy film to make and they pulled it off in a way that, this feels bizarre to say considering the content it鈥檚 about, was highly entertaining. - Dave of PVD Horror

Moral of the movie: Listen to your wife. I have been scared of what could happen if you combine glass coffee tables and kids but this is a whole new level. New fear unlocked. I rewound 70% of the movie. The score is due to my 60 minutes long anxiety attack. Would not recommend this to anyone, especially new, first time parents.

There is absolutely nothing comedic about this film and I can appreciate the darkest of humor鈥� or at least recognize it as such. It鈥檚 not even really horror, but very horrific. More of an intense drama and boy, this one is INTENSE. Worth a watch

This movie was perfect, in my opinion. Tragic and so wonderfully acted. I would not consider this a comedy, but it does have some very dark comedic moments, that somehow blend perfectly with the bleak subject matter. It is a harrowing experience and so worth the watch. I rarely ever write reviews, and though it might not be to everyone's taste, I believe any fan of thoughtful horror movies will appreciate this hidden gem.
