The Conjuring 2 Reviews
You can't tell from its beginning, but the second Conjuring is even more proficient, deeply troubling, and most of all, bold in the way it renders the possession horror genre a canonical must.

There is a very old-fashioned horror movie approach to these films that I adore. The sequel wisely embraces that formula while also telling another compelling story from the Warren’s casebook.

Wilson and Farmiga hold the otherwise typical proceedings together, making the usual mechanics of a filmic haunting feel dialed-up on emotional terms.

Superior to the first film.

Though 'The Conjuring 2' has plenty of scares, it is hampered by a long and somewhat rambling setup.

As with the first film it's got more arms than it can handle, so even with some wonky ones some of them still turn out to work

Wan is still terrifically skilled at executing horrifying moments, but he's lost control of the bigger picture.

With a stronger lean towards the main characters, The Conjuring 2 shows us what we loved about the original flick and still keeps us hidden under the covers at night.

It may not be as scary as the first film, but The Conjuring 2 is still very satisfying. It's the horror sequel future horror sequels should try to emulate.

At a bloated two hours and thirteen minutes, the story is way too thin to keep us engaged

A sturdy, enjoyable, if overlong, supernatural horror romp.

It must be admit that the period detail and the use of sound are splendid, but at times the repetitive scenes, the cheesy characters and the unnecessary duration transform this horror thriller into something excessively boring. [Full review in Spanish]

The Conjuring 2 is that one time out of ten where a horror sequel not only earns its keep, but establishes the idea that a franchise may actually be workable from a creative standpoint.

Wan's built his very own haunted house set where he's able to have total control over every aspect. Muted colors, looming shadows, and diabolical toys all work together to create a tangible feeling of evil.

A sinister playfulness mirrors the actions of its malevolent spirits.

The Conjuring 2 is a fun, effective horror movie, and further emphasises the franchise generally as one ripe for sequels and spin-offs.

I really enjoyed The Conjuring 2. It's a touch long at 2 hours and 14 minutes, but it starts off with a wonderful bang as we're dropped right into the Amityville fray. The fantastic camera work and creepy scenes sets the tone right away.

If you're a general wide-audience for horror movies, you should see this one over almost any other release...this should set a standard for how studio horror movies are made.

James Wan outdoes himself with The Conjuring 2 by creating a true high budget horror film and successfully scaring audiences. [Full Review in Spanish]

Sure, it's a lot of the same parlor tricks that horror fans have seen before, but Wan knows how to use those tricks to build the tension and does it in a very proficient manner.
