The Double Reviews
Richard Gere on form. I spent the film thinking that they shouldn't have played their hand so early... but they didn't!!! Great twist at the end.
I enjoyed this film more than other reviewers did. I wasn’t sure I liked RG’s minimalistic approach but in the end I believed the story being told. Well done.
An enjoyable standard spy drama that I was surprised it was made in the late 2000's because this film feels more like a 1990's spy flick.
It seems like a variation of US Marshalls from the 1990s, until the end. Good try.
This is a movie in which Richard Gere's character is both the assassin, and a member of upper level law enforcement deceiving and pretending to be pursuing the assassin. Imagine that, a predator on the police force. FBI, I think it was.
Super predictable. Hardly any fun.
Pretty middle of the road spy thiller. Not alot of thrills, the twists you could see coming a mile away (the TRAILER even basically said 'Richard Gere is a commie agent') or irrelevant. Russians are sneaking through from Mexico to do Russian stuff, which seems to mostly be kill other Russians. Can't they do that in Russia? Why do they need to come here? We need a WALL;) Topher Grace, much as I liked him in That 70s Show, is not really an action star... maybe I typecast him in my mind. He isn't a bad actor, but he can't carry an action film. The movie is perfectly fine, it just isn't great.
The casting was very well done. The action consistent. The best part for me was how accurate much of it was. It was far more accurate than most civilians get. So, extra points for writing things correctly and doing the work to learn it. I very much enjoyed it.
not too bad for a straight to video. We usually rate the awfulness of these by how much we use the fast forward button. Only used it once in this movie. Decent twists good action not too heavy on the slow moments overall a pretty good film.
3.5. But I’ll give it five for support.
This was awful. The concept was interesting but the main twist came way too early, and the second twist seemed to be thrown in for the hell of it. Also there is no way in hell the rookie fbi figured this out with the amount of information he had. and his even more green lacky came to the same conclusion with a "look" from topher? are you kidding me? Waste of time this movie was.
Good acting, great plot and twists in the story. The only thing that perhaps was a bit off was the script. But over all very enjoyable movie
Everything was fine involving cinematography and setting etc. However, there was a signficant lack of any real tension and the plot is predictable and write-by-numbers for any CIA movie.
The Wife and I sat and watched this flick on Netflix last night and at first we were like well it should not be that bad because Richard Gere is in the movie and he makes good movies. Wow was this a good movie Yes it was although I figured out who the bad guy was within the first 20 minutes this movie was more than just find out who the bad guy is and it had twists and turns and everything you wanted in the movie. Although it states PG I would say its for the adults cause of the subject matter and the many kill murder scenes you see. The movie is a few years old but totally worth it. My wife was fully focused on the movie and not the iPad for the entire length of the movie. If you like thinking action thrillers then this is top shelf.
A somewhat good film that tries too hard in some aspects to make it work. A few twists and turns made this movie respectable, but unfortunately head scratching. Richard Gere plays a mysterious character here who you think is good. His evil identity is revealed halfway through the movie, so it does make it kind of an interesting approach. Topher Grace plays a young FBI agent who is on pursuit of Cassius a famous murderer who seems to have resurfaced. Gere plays an experienced agent who claims to also be an expert in Cassius. When it is revealed he is Cassius, it takes away the excitement in my opinion. I thought the movie spoiled a surprise ending in the middle of the film, even though it was an interesting route to take. Grace was ok, and the twists and turns at the end we're not that good and I think the movie really took the wrong approach. Still a decent film because Gere was really good here.
