The Guard Reviews
Brendan Gleeson from “Banshees of Inisherin” was great! Don Cheadle from the MCU was good too. The movie was about cops in Ireland taking down criminals. This was a nice comedy and I enjoyed the scenes of Ireland.
Short, funny, and interesting throughout. A very enjoyable movie.
If you can bear the incessant and mostly unnecessary foul language, it really is a quite a good film. Superb acting from all the cast, sometimes quite poignant, other times quite funny, certainly watchable.
Refreshing, original (!!), special kind of humour, great photography and colours. A sort of more refined Guy Ritchie kind of movie.
Genetically-shared Ireland’s localized chronicles become active through a distinctively tonal, humorously subversive spin of the buddy cop genre, benefitting from the main duo’s ethical clashes to pull off how well-written and -performed this enjoyable case is. (B)
What a quirky, original movie with interesting characters. Fun to watch. I highly recommend it.
Droll sense of humor with very authentic voices of all in plot and characters.plus slight mock art film markers and Cheadle and Gleeson are brilliant
Smashing, loved it. The end gets a little drawn out, still a great watch!
so funny and so fun Brendan Gleeson is quite an eccentric Irish policeman who is such a sourpuss and a bit of a pessimist I especially love when he and Don Cheadle are on screen cause the dynamics work I like Mark Strong too but he should have been the bigger villain in the picture as the film goes along you do get to know the policeman and why he's so uptight the scenery is just magnificient and alot of the humor adds punch to the script genuine laughs and WTF moments
Brilliant dark comedy with excellent cast.
This movie is damn bloody awesome.
Totally funny and as gritty as they get--You WILL enjoy this film.
The unlikely pairing of Cheadle and Murphy works in this clever and witty black comedy on murder and corruption.
Quirky and funny. The Guard Boyle is a booze guzzling old boy with questionable ethics and you can't guess what decisions he'll make.
Not the typical cop duo film. A "buddy" cop vision that is considerably turned on it's head and is rife with sly black comedic jabs. Features the delightful Brendan Gleeson as an amusingly complex and obnoxious Irish police officer. That alone should be enough to sway anyone towards this brief and breezy flick.
Excellent offbeat Irish comedy thriller. Quirky and very witty, if controversial, dialogue. Brendan Gleeson carries the film and is brilliant throughout. Think In Bruges meets Father Ted. Fabulous!
Hillarious Film . Had me in stitches that ain't easy to do .
Witty, dark and superbly acted. Absolute gem
