The Half of It Reviews
charming, endearing, intricate.
Very well done. Hues of John Hughes. It is a touching movie with an ending you will never predict. Every character in the movie is lovable.
Asian lesbian verion of Cyrano. Avoid.
This was a bland interpretation of an all too common teen plot. It was cheesy like 1990s Teen Witch but without passion and creativity. The actors were too old for their roles, the male roles were offensive to men, and the story was littered with many WTF moments highlighted by a teenage wedding proposal at a church service that everyone in town seemed to attend. There are so many movies like this that are much better. Move along.
Ang ganda, super funny and charming ng mga cast.
It's a great film to watch when you feel lonely and unmotivated, this idea they put in this film about the five bold strokes in great paintings are strongly provocative. It wasn't about romance, it's about those five bold strokes.
I loved this movie so much that I immediately wanted to buy it online. This is a really easygoing, positive film, there are no real nasty pasties, everyone is pretty nice and instead, we get a story about friendship, connection and discovering love. The acting is awesome, the people are beautiful and the accompanying soundtrack is really great too. I went into this film with low expectations but came away with a new favourite. I very much recommend you watch it, especially if you're into girls!
A sweet film that manages to be authentic and endearing. Unique coming of age story with unexpected protagonists that, while following admittedly expected storylines, are endearing and interesting throughout. There is a lack of total conclusion to the film, which feels right.
Unexpectedly wonderful, with a very unusual setting that serves as an intriguing backdrop. The half of it is a really nice indie that feels original thanks to the really smart casting of fresh faces.
who thinks that this terrible script is movie worthy? Total waste of time, terrible acting and the production was bad. Will never waste my time on stuff like this from this producer, script writer or actresses.
One of the most beautiful movies to exist I am hoping that this movie gets a sequel it deserves one
This movie is well shot with great aesthetics. The characters are few, allowing room for deep character development. Characters felt shallow and lacking, however. Overall it's worth watching. The plot is clever and at times unpredictable. It's not a cookie cutter Romance, but a little more grit would have given it the human touch needed to leave a lasting impression and evoke a stronger emotional response.
The movie was horrible and had no purpose. The characters talked weirdly and I was confused the whole 2 hours. It was such a waste of time. DO NOT WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely one of the best movies I've watched this year. All of the main characters are just spot on. It helps that they are (to me anyway) unknown actors. The main character, Ellie Chu is tough as nails and still a very bright, caring young girl who is about to pitch her future into a local college rather than following in her mother's figurative footsteps and go to her first choice college, half a continent away from the widowed father (just an outstanding perf). So touching, so moving I will most def watch this film again.
I absolutely love this movie! Maybe I'm being biased, Because a few years ago, this was the first sapphic film I watched. But the story is real and with real characters, who cause a certain identification, as well as bringing a few laughs at times.
From way to the right of its target market (in age that is), this movie was a charming, carefully crafted snippet from the lives of its lead and supporting characters. Not a traditional coming of age movie with predictible storyline. The complexities, ambiguities and questing nature of love resonate as strongly with this 55 year old viewer as it should with the younger audience for which the message is intended. Is that your boldest stroke?
3/5 Because Saving Face is much better than this one, it didn't meet my expectations, and I felt like "Is this going to be like this after sixteen years?" However, as a campus film in a Netflix series, it is qualified. It's not easy to watch this movie, so I'll add one star.
If I’m only ever allowed to describe one film as “very Netflix”, let it be this one.
I looooved this movie. I hate rewatching movies when I can remember the plot, but I rewatched this to show someone else [spoiler alert they also loved it].
