The King's Daughter Reviews
This is a Masterpiece! for those who feel movies not just watch and go into "intellectual square narrowed sophisticated minds"..I believe this movie is excellent and very underrated, i love how smooth was the story, well told, it took me to that world, it was thrilling, it's so vivid!, even if the costumes sometimes did't match but it's ok, it didn't bother at all because the heart of how the movie was made was solid, complete and so beautiful, it's almost like intimate films, between big budget productions and small brilliant movies, the actors were perfect, maybe the music was too much sometimes, it could be more moving, maybe more subtle and intense, but it served though the scenes in general, as a fan of fantasy movies i would recommend this as a classic in this genre!
I thought it was great. It was a fun, light, Fantasy film perfect for what it was. For god's sake not every film needs to have a "deeper meaning". Films are allowed to be fun and entertaining, and this was just that.
I so badly wanted to like this movie and it could have been great. Problems: Pierce Brosnan's role should have been cut in half. It was more about the younger people anyway, and the writers spent too much time deciding if he was "good" or "bad" and in the end, you didn't care about him. The priest's role was really not necessary, either, if you cut out Brosnan's screen time. The King should have just been the king and maybe keep his scenes at the end when you realized that he did care. That would have been plenty. Brosnan's mostly boring screen time took away from other character development. We never got to know the greedy Duke's son who wanted to marry her or the evil doctor. I only really enjoyed the movie with the doctor at the end when he fights and gets killed, but that character was not properly developed. It would have been nice to get to know more about the mermaid or have better scenes with her character. Anyway, I won't watch it again, but it was a nice try to make a sweet movie with some very cool visuals.
The Kings’s daughter gets 5 gold stars for me. I’m a big fantasy fan and this one brings history and fantasy together (which always creates curiosity in the eyes of the watcher) with some feelings of enchantment and wonder to this overall feel good story. A little romance in a natural way. A little typical family drama in there as well. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a movie without a lot of gore, or horrible language too so that was appreciated. Not to mention, I personally LOVE a narrated story..it really draws the viewer in and they did it right with the voice of Julie Andrews! Her voice is butter in my ears :) Each scene was just as breathtaking as the last..my eyes were peeled to the 온라인카지노추천 and felt like they took me on a virtual tour of Versailles. The end eclipse scene by the ocean 😍 was beautiful. The whole movie was just beautiful to watch. The innocent feel good storyline brought feelings of warmth to my heart with a touch of action and thrill which kept me drawn in the whole time. This movie really appealed to all my senses which is what any good movie should do. I loved the story, the mystery, the music and sounds, the graphics, the costumes, the vibe it gave off, really loved it all! A Loggins
A class act all the way around. The actors are Genius!!!
Terrible acting Terrible filming Terrible Terrible Terrible
The worst film I've seen in a long time, the pacing is so odd you can't ever really get into it. The storyline is awful, I'm still super confused about what happened? It's a shame because the scenes themselves look beautiful it's just the story and overall movie that's rubbish! Oh and the outfits are literally criminal.
Looks like they blew their budget on filming at Versailles and casting Pierce Brosnan. Why did they bother using an exact date with real historical figures and forget real life events and costume? The styling made me wince. It would have been better to have set it in a fictional and fantastical realm where their costumes and other styling choices could be forgiven. The plot itself was bland and involved a severe lack of reasoning. I never understood why the daughter of the king was kept hidden. The chemistry was lacking between characters and the interactions were clumsy. How the hell did the King get a message to the ships before the princess got to the top of the cliff? Plot holes galore. Yikes.
The film drew me in immediately. The effects are stunning and the music. It's a basic storyline, but I didn't mind that because it's very entertaining. It's an easy sweet watch and will uplift your mood.
Absolutely awful. Shocking considering the good cast. God-awful acting, and horrible dialogue. The plot is insanely boring and predictable. Who approved this?? Final verdict: Pierce Brosnan must be bored or out of money.
A great family film with a strong moral message. Great to see William Hurt in one of his last roles. Pierce Brosnan and Kaya Scodelario were excellent. The story was almost like old Disney; wholesome, feel-good with a happy ending. Versailles provided a fantastic backdrop and scenery. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
An Awful Waste Of Time
Enjoyable, SFX didn't overpower the story which is great. Nice OST too. I love to watch this movie again.
Originally filmed in 2014, The King's Daughter is a curiosity as it's been on the shelf for almost eight years. As another critic quipped, in the ensuring years, star Kaya Scodelario has been in an entire trilogy of Maze Runner movies. I don't know what this Chinese-by-way-of-French production was going for as we follow the court of King Louis VIX, played by Pierce Brosnan in an astounding array of outlandishly bad costumes and terrible wigs. He resembles a Vegas magician set back in time. Anyway, he calls to court the young Marie-Josephine (Scodelario) who has been living her life raised by nuns since she was dropped off as a baby. If you can't already see where this is going, then I can't help you. But wait because there's also a mermaid (Bingbing Fan, who in the years since this movie possibly served time in China's prison for tax evasion -- she was missing) in the basement being held captive because Louis thinks eating her heart will be the key to him becoming immortal. So, yeah, what is this? It's striving for a fairy tale/storybook sort of feeling but it's a plot that will only work with the youngest of children. The characters are simplistic and boring, and once the mermaid is introduced it becomes like a costume drama version of Free Willy. Even with being on the shelf for eight years, the finished film still feels rushed, and the special effects supporting the mute mermaid are a colorful mess. Fun fact #1: the director is responsible for 4 Baby Geniuses sequels. Fun fact #2: this will be William Hurt's last movie to his career. The King's Daughter is a movie that makes you ask, "What were they thinking?" quite a lot, and the best decision was to withhold it from mass viewing for eight years. Nate's Grade: D+
The effects might be weak but the story is cute and the cast is strong. Sometimes that is all you need.
all of it was horrible
What a bore. I legit wanted to fall asleep. This is the type of dollar movie you get at Redbox when you have absolutely nothing else to watch. How the flip did they get pierce brosnan? Or the girl from crawl? Two incredible actors. Maybe they're got getting any other offers but man. In the end it's just boring British stuff with a mermaid that can heal people. Not a fan. So charming! Magical. I especially enjoyed the kings journey toward enlightenment. The lead actress was interesting to watch. I'd not seen her before but she has great chemistry with literally all the other characters. Kind of an effortless watch.
I liked it, but I wish I could have liked it more. It was clean family entertainment, so I wish it was given more respect. The movie was both fully feminist and fully faith oriented. That's fantastic. However, there were easily fixed issues. Most of the scenes in the beginning felt like they were 5 seconds long. It felt quick and choppy. The CGI for the mermaid was way too cheap. The scene where the lead protagonist tries to have an emotional breakdown after the king gives her orders... take that out. It didn't fit, and it was bad acting. Hollywood needs more movies in this genre. I was entertained by the story, but it wasn't given the production value that it deserved.
So refreshing…..loved the creativity, fantasy, acting, really good entertaining flick…..well done!
