The Letters Reviews
This Movie was very inspiring with beautiful details in the Life of Mother Teresa.
This movie was a bit of a let down. I truly believe that Mother Teresa deserves to have movies made about her, but this one seems slow and sluggish. However, I think that the worst thing about it is that it wasn't as informative as I was hoping for. It has a few good moments, but ultimately I was not impressed with it.
Mother Theresa is a Saint and this film is about her devotion to Christ and her calling to Love the poor and destitute in society....it's an inspiration and a joy to watch because it's not just another Hollywood movie. 4 stars
Mother Teresa is a saint, you know? I like her so much that this movie is my favorite, because it's so loving,= and dramatical. And someone dislikes this movie will go to HELL!!!! (I'm a Catholic, dislikers are athiests)
Good movie for someone who doesn't know much about this remarkable woman . It would have been nice to know more about the letters that film is supposed to be about.
simply wow. its a story about the letters written by Mother Teresa over decades as she devoted herself to helping the poorest of the poor in India.
I attended USC Film School and worked in film and television for a number of years and consider myself a sophisticated film viewer. I am completely baffled by the critics negative take on this film. It is superbly mounted in all regards: directing, acting, cinematography, costuming and art direction. The Catholic notes are handled especially well. It is an authentic portrayal of a remarkable woman.
Pretty dull affair this one about a mercenary (nun) who decides to leave her church and do Gods will on her own. The premise is okay but it's very slow and not much material to keep you glued till the end
Beautiful and inspiring movie. Excellent to watch with the family and discuss themes such as sacrifice, charity, love, and kindness. She exemplified loving God and others and putting others before herself. They mentioned that she felt abandoned by God in one of her letters. I think this may have been blown out of proportion. However, I have not read the letters where this information was shared. Everyone feels down sometimes...even Jesus was considered the Suffering Servant and a Man of Sorrow. It should not be surprising that she experienced suffering and sorrow in her total devotion. It never hampered her from continuing to love and minister all of her life. God filled her with the joy and love she needed to serve and live righteously She always gave Him all the glory for her works produced by faith. I do not know that much about her beyond what I learned in this movie, but I was impressed and inspired by how the movie portrayed her. I recommend the movie to all those who consider themselves followers of Christ.
Novel idea, but poorly executed. At the end of the day, it makes mother Teresa seem like an uninteresting side note in history.
While the movie may have been a bit slow, I think it portrays her simplistic life the way it should. Mother Teresa would not have wanted a fancy hollywood movie.
Worth watching, for the treatment it gives to a special aspect of the spiritual life that is not so often addressed. Many people know of Mother Teresa to some extent or other. This film points to the cost of discipleship. Worth thinking about.
I have been looking for this in the theater, but it looks like it will be direct to DVD and streaming. Not an issue...I will buy it there.
