It’s strangely memorable, mostly for its sheer uniqueness. It feels less like a movie and more like a play, though, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s an intriguing thought experiment. I should have realized that the 100% rating from critics vs 85% from actual moviegoers was a warning sign, and to me it usually is, but an audience score over 80 typically bodes well and I made the mistake of ignoring the disparity. A meaningfully higher critic score than audience score always, always, always means that the movie has some kind of message the the critics think the world has to receive... and whether you agree with or disagree with that message, it's going to be delivered in such a ham-fisted way as to detract from the enjoyment of the film. This movie neatly set up a Christian strawman, then tore it down, scattered it, set the pieces on fire, and had the characters and the audience sit around the ashes in a circle as they patted each other on the back about how smart they all were. Without the Walter Mitty-level insanity, this could have been a good film, but it goes way too far, and becomes a waste of the time spent watching it.
