The Odd Life of Timothy Green Reviews
A wonderful tale about the power of intention, being careful what you wish for, self-acceptance, love, loss, and new beginnings.

Struggles to find creativity, worthy comedy, and resonance.

A good majority of children will find much to enjoy here and parents will no doubt appreciate the film's positive message, inspiring characters, and genuinely good heart.

Although the film's ending loses some of the oomph and magical charm that CJ and his storyline of Timothy brings throughout the film... The Odd Life of Timothy Green is still "oddly" wonderful and magically charming.

A wholly magical experience - a refreshingly old fashioned fable for the young and the young at heart.

Clearly it's designed to be this heart-warming family fantasy, but I kept thinking as I watched it that the material seemed better suited for a horror film.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a refreshingly old-fashioned flick.

While some aspects of the story are pretty predictable, [Peter Hedges] manages to work in a few surprises and, more importantly, conjure plenty of magic and emotion along the way to a satisfying conclusion.
| Original Score: 3.5/4 | Aug 7, 2018
It's supposed to be magical and charming, of course, but it's more annoying than engaging.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Sep 1, 2017
Likely to please younger audiences who will find the simple, fairy story style arc comfortingly familiar and the central protagonist quirkily relatable.

Even allowing for a certain level of unreality in a movie intended as an allegory, The Odd Life of Timothy Green smells of contrivance and falseness.

Instead of wanting to turn over a new "leaf," I wound up OD-ing on sap.

As odd as the title suggests, this is a strange and dreadfully overwrought family yarn.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | May 19, 2013
Not so much moving as stomach churning.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Apr 12, 2013
It looks and sounds like your average family feelgood movie, but everything else about it is just plain odd.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Apr 10, 2013
A slice of retro whimsy, it's rooted to nothing in particular and is inoffensive in every way except its overwhelming blandness.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Apr 8, 2013
[A] painfully sentimental, would-be magical tale ...

The Odd Life of Timothy Green, finds Disney at an altogether new low, capped off by a cringeworthy dance sequence that will make you scream for Timothy to crawl back into his magical hole.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Apr 5, 2013
Timothy's magic is as modest as can be, and its aim is a bit off... [U]ndemanding, inoffensive, and instantly forgettable.

This is a remarkably bonkers example of Hollywood schmaltz. It's so glossy and gooey, it makes Forrest Gump look like Fight Club.
