The Outsider Reviews
Don't waste your time on this one!!!
I know I'm in the minority on this, but I thought this show was bad. I was totally into this show until the very end. That final act was so awful (in so many ways!!) that it ruined the show entirely for me. The first thing I noticed was the really bad sound editing. I don't normally notice this sort of thing, but I think it's one of those things that you're not suppose to notice and if you do, no bueno. Anyone? That was my only issue with the show or the story for the first 80%. But it took such a massive nosedive at the end there, and then I just started noticing other production-y stuff. The editing, the sound, the writing, the special effects, and the music!!! Holy shit the music was so goddamn unnecessary! and so cheeesy!!! The props! The cave! Those giant plastic stalagmites!! It all seemed so low budge! The writing at the end was cringeworthy. I have never experienced this before. Never in my life have I watched a show go totally down the toilet so dramatically. It's almost like a different crew of writers and staff came in at the end. I have such good things to say about the first 80% of the season (really!) But those last two episodes were shit. The acting was wonderful though. Great performances by all. Jason Bateman: excellent. The writing was terrible at the end. Jesus I'm not gonna sleep tonight. Oof.
Weak script, stereotyped characters and acting, one cliche after another, and all shot at night or in the rain so miss the low budget production. Avoid any movie from Cinedigm, they are full of violence and cynicism.
Maybe the worst western I've ever seen. Its an amalgam of cliches from other westerns thrown together in a jumbled pile and shot at night so you can't see anything. Skip this one.
I think this movie is a great depictiction of what it means to have nothing to lose and the evolution of gaining a family and willing to die for that family. Jared Leto did an amazing job of portraying an outsider who was welcomed into a family and proved his loyalty. He avenged his father and ultimately gained the respect of not only his brothers but an opposing clan.
Trace Adkins is a great actor, if it wasn't for him and Sean Patrick Flannery, I wouldn't have watched it all the way through.
The outsider is yet another low budget western that doesn’t offer a whole lot. The story of revenge is intriguing and I like some of the actors but the movie is just poorly made. Most of the movie takes time at night and it’s difficult to see what’s going on. I also noticed some audio and visual issues with the film. The script is predictable and some of the acting is pretty wooden. It’s about what you would expect from this director.

the predictable story would be passable if it wasn't negatively highlighted by the terrible cinematography and average acting. the dialogue is jilted and feels unnatural. not worth watching.
think id rather watch paint peel off the ceiling......Love a good western.....that wasnt even a decent western....Rotten to the Core !!!
It's a hard one to get through. I can enjoy a movie and let unrealistic things go just in the name of entertainment but this one is just a little too much. It's a western, it's not Star Wars or The Incredibles fantasy. And holy moley, stop with everyone reacting to every single thing they don't like by pulling out their pistol and pointing it just to then put it back in their holster, over and over. But I do like westerns and that kept me watching but the acting is nothing to be impressed by. Anytime I see someone on screen doing something that makes me suddenly think "I bet the director told him to do that" because it looks forced and unnatural just ruins the moment for me.
I watched this with my family and I felt very uncomfortable watching it with them. Not as good as i thought it would be. It mostly was boring. I got a couple of chuckles. I thought after the movie was over, wow we have come a long way with films, from Gone with the wind to this!?
Sub par acting and good action made for a so so western. I requested a refund from Google play for a $7 rental.
Unlike other westerns there was no impressive marksman here, instead it featured an angry above average fighter. This gave it raw atmosphere worth following. Great story but felt the ending was missing something. Then again this film did good job of representing nonchalant western attitude.
