It’s a very beautiful movie, and does a great job showing the hardship and the selflessness of the Young Turks. It’s a great movie to show and teach people about the Armenian Genocide. I have no idea why the “critics” are calling this movie bad.

So moving and a magnificent film set against the massacre of one and a half million Armenians by the Ottoman Turks. Excellent acting and action scenes showing the courage of these brave people

My family roots are from Asia Minor and I would have liked to enjoy this movie but it looks fake from the get go.

I believe the Rotton Tomatoe critics are not a credible review source . Look at the audience reviews or the Popcorn meter . The Promise is an outstanding story , well structured for the screen . Excellent cast , locations , cinemaphotography and script . Rotton Tomatoes has lost their feel for cinema .

This has been one of the best movies I have seen all year, if not decade. It made me cry, it made me think, it made me love.

Best movie I’ve seen about the Armenian genocide

I just watched this. It almost leaves me with no words. Riveting and sad. Well done.

A love triangle story that is unnecessary to make us care about Armenian genocide.

A good premise that I was interested in learning more about. However, it took things too far and was too one sided in its portrayal of the genocide. Regardless, it still has some beauty to it despite the odd plot that did not always make sense. Nor did the self-nobility of the reporter's character really make sense when he was a minority living in a foreign country pushing his own values. It was on HBO.

An absolute heart wrenching movie with a believable love story and an even better story of the survival of the Armenian people during the Armenian genocide.

A movie with an interesting topic loses all charm when the weak romance starts. The cast tries to show something but fails to really capture the essence of this story, Still the fight , resistance and sad facts about this tragedy make this movie worth watching.

Incredible movie, Historically accurate Depicting the horrors committed by the ottoman Turks towards the Armenians Greeks and Assyrians. Must see movie to educate yourself about Turkeys history and the unforgettable tragic experiences the Armenian people suffered and experienced.

Powerful love story, also an accurate piece of history

Powerful movie! It had me on the edge of my chair all the way through. Great acting. I'm Jewish and have Armenian neighbors in the Glendale, California area. The Armenian genocide was the template for the Holocaust. So, this was a very meaningful movie for me. I very much appreciate that it was made. It will help the Armenian Genocide to become more widely known. Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.

Captivating story, beautifully told

I am married to a Polish woman here in Denver. She has a cousin who is married to an Armenian man living in Wroclaw, Poland. He said his family was originally from Ukraine. So the Turks must have relocated some Armenians to Ukraine.

5/10 would not pointless love triangle again

Triangolo amoroso intrecciato con il primo genocidio del XX secolo subito dagli armeni. I momenti di azione sono ben intervallati da parti più romantiche e conversate; Oscar Isaac ottimo protagonista e cast di tutto rispetto. La ricostruzione storica è accurata e lucida, senza nessun moralismo eccessivo. Negli ultimi minuti il film perde un po' di spinta e si prolunga leggermente troppo.
