Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) The artistic finesse of the film leaves, perhaps, just a little bit more to be desired - it's a case of applauding a message more than its overeager medium. Rated: 3/5 Apr 1, 2018 Full Review Roberto Friedman Bay Area Reporter Although rather a stark morality tale, the short has enough humanity and empathy in it to engage our attention. Jun 3, 2020 Full Review Annie Banks Cultured Vultures The family is weak, and the supporting cast isn't much of a cast at all. Yes, there's other siblings, but they aren't impressionable or notable in any way. Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Shaun Munro Flickering Myth Beautifully shot and scored though it is, it's the strength of the writing and Shelton's deeply compassionate performance that really makes this one soar. Rated: 4.5/5 Mar 19, 2018 Full Review Laura Hiros Diario La Estrella (Fort Worth, TX) Extraordinary production. Absolutely heartbreaking. Rated: 4.5/5 Mar 5, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Noé C The little girl is deaf. The silent child is a film to speak an aid and a child deaf. The aid support the girl for the sign language. The little girl learn the sign language. The aid very sympathies because a search the classroom arrangement for the little girl. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Lucie D For me, it's a good film. It's a movie very emotional. The story talk a little girl who is deaf. But her parents wants to lears. And for me, it's very strange that the mother talk at her girl. Her girl is deaf and don't worry how say her mother. That why, her parents takes an aid for help Libby to lear the sign language. It's a great film, but it miss a color. It's so dark. i find that a sad film. but it's a beautiful film with a beautiful historty. And at the "end", we have a importante information of the hearing-impaired. " 78% of deaf children attend mainstream school with no spécialist support in place". It's so lot ! And they saids that if a deaf child, you can have the same as a hearing child. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review selim y Le Silent Child is a movie. I think this is a drama or a thriller. This is the history of Libby, the last child of the family of 5 persons. Libby is deaf and for help her, there was a woman. An excellent woman to speak the sign language. The film is essentially on the relation of Libby and her teacher. At the beginning of the movie, we see the mood is more sad than happy. The objective of the woman in the movie is to learn perfect sign language to Libby on good rules. The film movie is very interesting because it shows the difficulty when you live with this handicap. The second plan of the movie, it’s essentially a good passage for the comprehension of the person in the film. The end of the movie is very sad but I can’t speak anything. I recommend this movie for the culture. Come with me, take your phone or iPad and come see the movie. This is an excellent movie. The moral is: for a deaf, the most help possible is the best thing you can take. Thanks! 190/150 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Lou S This is a story of a little girl deaf, but her parent’s come babysitters. Her name is Joanne and the little girl name’s Libby. Joanne keep Libby and learn the sign language. Parents Libby’s is so hard for occupy her. Joanne and Libby do must activity’s, for example aquatic park, bike. Libby no said speak the sign language, but with Joanne she speak a little. The parents put Libby in the school, but her don’t listen. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Manon F « The silent child” is a movie directed by Chris Overton . The leads actors are Rachel Fielding, who plays the role of Sue, the mother, Philip York who plays Paul, the dad, and Rachel Shenton , who plays Joanne. It is her the writer of this story. The film introducing Maisie Sly , who plays Libby. The film tells a story of a deaf little girl , who had to learn lip, reading, and sign language with her assistant, Joanne. For me, the acting is incredible. The little girl convey very well the live of her character. The acting is very natural and believable. That shows a real story of a family in difficulties with their deaf child. In this movie, there are a lot of close-up to show the feelings of Libby and how she learned lip reading. But the dull colors make a sad atmosphere. The message of this film is to sensibilisate people for sign language, because it is must be recognized all over the world. For me, this is really convincing. So I recommended this film, but not for too emotional people, because the end is really sad. I really enjoy it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Tristan C The Silent Child is a movie written by Rachel Shenton and directed by Chris Overton. I really enjoy this short film, it’s really poignant and it make me feel different emotions during all the screen time such as happiness and sadness. The play of all the actors is really great such as Maisie Sly who plays the Libby’s deafness really weel. I found all of the bike’s scene haves a great cinematography with the following camera effect. I found that the movie is a bit dark like the weather with the grey sky and the colour panel in general is pretty dark. It may represent the sadness and loneliness that the movie represent about problems that deaf people can experience. The movie’s soundtrack is really well made with melancholic songs and sometimes in complete silence it may represent Libby’s deafness when she can’t hear anything. This short film is really emotional, I found the school scene really sad when the poor Libby can’t practice the hearing test and when she is alone in the playground. I found all of the scenes when Libby is trying to learn the sign language with Joanne it’s full of kindness I really enjoy it. The message of the movie of every person deaf or not are all the same and that they can do exactly the same as a hearing child is very pretty and strong. I give it a 4 stars for that. And i hope that you enjoy it the same as i do ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Read all reviews
