The Snowtown Murders Reviews
A gruesome and disturbing Movie about of the worst serial killers in the world. Tim Treakle
Brutal and excellent.
Incredible performances and direction make for bleak and real viewing. The film leaves nowhere to hide from the horrors of abuse, murder and the power that some people hold over others.
Horrific situation which shows the level of manipulation some twisted people will go to. The fact that this was a true story make it even worse.
This is a great movie. It looks deeply into the workings of a manipulative mind and the people who are willingly manipulated. It also offered an unfiltered insite to the day to day workings of an under engaged community.
I had no idea what this was or if it was fiction. Heard about it on a podcast and gave it a go. Tough tough watch. It took me three days to watch this and I almost gave up on it several times. It was not a pleasing watch or style.
A hauntingly real movie about fear and manipulation. The acting is some of the best I've seen. I also really like the score. Can be slow at times but in my opinion it adds to the atmosphere. Credit to the Aussies, they know how to make a damn good movie every once in a while.
Extraordinary. Confusing but gripping , brutal. British movies can be gritty but the aussies have another layer.
There were some parts that were almost too much to watch. However I feel the "unwatchable" parts made it feel more realistic. I could feel the emotions of the characters through these scenes. It wasn't overdone with dramatic sound effects or graphics. The music was haunting and perfect for this movie.
Made an account bc this movie annoyed me that much. Terrible writing.
such a great storyline and they ruined it with this movie. such a big yawn.
A riveting portrayal of the shocking murders that took place,John Bunting is one crazy dude, highly recommended!
Based on the true story of one of Australia's most heinous serial murderers. Sees a sixteen year old falling for the charms of his mother's newest boyfriend whose outspoken about all the things he hates and takes him under his wing and shows him a world of torture and murder that he cannot get out from under as he's in too deep. This is a riveting, yet deeply disturbing film which depicts the manipulation of the young boy very realistically. Tough watch at times but it's hard to look away.
Heard a lot do good things about this but it's Great idea, terribly done. Boring and slow from start to finish. Good portrayal of grooming and how the people descended to what they did. But overall a very poor film.
Intriguing to the end, doesn't dumb things down and a classic example of show not tell story. Great performances make up for the two hour movie's pace.
Australia's real life serial killer grooms a young, fatherless and abused boy into a killer. The film will put knots in your stomach because it shows real life twistedness...
Disturbing image of poverty ridden, almost dystopian Australia. Unconventional, muddled narrative, aimed at immersing you into a pit of depravity, Jamie Vlassakis ends up in, coupled with great performances and excellent cinematography, it creates a better experience, than if it was a conventional by the number true crime movie. But unfortunately, I think, you need to know events that occurred before watching, to appreciate the movie.
Based on Australia's most infamous serial killer, Snowtown is a bleak & disturbing look into a sixteen year old being introduced & seduced into being his accomplice. Recommended.
This movie was disturbing without being overly brutal. It asks the types of questions we bury in the back of our brains through a retelling of a horrific string of events. Filmed from the perspective of the killers reluctant accomplice, this film does leave you sympathizing with it's main character a bit, while painting a true face of evil in John Bunting.
