The Truffle Hunters Reviews
If subtitles aren’t for you, skip this one but the truffle market is shown well here. From the hunters to black market dealing on the street corners to the wealthy buyers at auction houses. I feel like the director had a good number of subjects on screen and their stories were displayed appropriately. But the dogs (hunters) steal the screen and the love from their owners, the old men of Italy who are a dying breed in and of themselves, is beyond apparent. Most of them single, see their dogs like wives, true loving relationships, with whom they spend all their time with on the truffle trail or indoors. Definitely recommend this film.
The interaction between Man and Dog is worth the price of admission! Beautiful part of Italy!
There was no plot. Its more of a documentary than anything. Basically follows four older men as they hunt truffles. Zero storyline
I wished there were more interludes of music, some more little snippets of women, and a more developed story. The movie was more of a downer than I was anticipating. A number of the scenes were authentic masterpiece frames of art, especially with the snow as the feature. Sun still frames are absolutely gorgeous!
Very informative and not filmed in the traditional sense. Very enjoyable
A charming documentary. Lovely slice of life story telling in the Italian Piedmont.
Interesting documentary but quite slow with very little explanation of what was going on and why.
Enjoyable, enlightening, and touching. Wanted more when it was over.
It was good wish I knew what happened to Carlo after he sneezed out
Liked the music, cinematography, the sweet relationships between the men and their dogs.
I liked watching the dogs and owners discover the truffles all over the countryside, in all types of conditions. Beautiful scenery and how intense the hunters were and the buying and selling industry.
I wish it had a better ending.
The Truffle Hunters is a beautiful about about a dying way of life and characters we all wish we knew. If you don't want a dog after this film you will never want a dog. Wonderfully shot and edited.
Interesting to see the lives of the truffle hunters and the lives of those that profit from their work. Two very different worlds. Also endearing to see how much these men love their dogs - The Real Truffle Hunters!
