The Thomas Crown Affair Reviews
The chemistry between Bronson and Russi is white hot. I enjoyed the movie before they slept together. It loses some of its intensity.
Excelente filme! Estilo sensacional e uma trama envolvente e inteligente. A ótima direção e o ótimo roteiro favorecem o filme. Atuação ótima de Pierce Brosnan e René Russo que compreendem muito bem a abordagem e as características de seus respectivos personagens.
Better than the original. This movie is fantastic! Top notch cast top to bottom. Great direction. Amazing style. Even viewing it today. Other than cell phones, everything works. Very cool. One of the great heist movies.
The Thomas Crown Affair is Brosnan at his best: a wealthy, suave, and dashing gentleman with a secret. Only this time, instead of being an intelligence agent, he's a thief. His charm and chemistry with costar Rene Russo are compelling, but the mystery of the stolen painting quickly unravels the predictability of the plot.
Great cast, great performances, and great locations. The very end was a bit of a disappointment. I watch a couple times a year when I want a very entertaining movie.
Good film, worth a watch
Surprisingly, I liked this remake better than the original. The love affair plays a little bit more believable and more developed. And I liked the art spin, fun and thrilling.
So, nearly twenty five years later I revisited The Thomas Crown Affair 1999 via DVD. Yep, DVD.The heist, the romance, the actors, the music, the fashion. Loved it. And, ummm, McTiernan's commentary was great, too. One of many fun comments was about Russo's wardrobe with boots. Absolutely, spot-on. Russo and Brosnan, totally Fun!
It's an excellent motion picture, The Thomas Crown Affair, 1999...directed by John McTiernan with writers, Leslie Dixon and Kurt Wimmer ...and it's a remake of the 1968 film of the same name...with starring of Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway...of course, the stars are Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo and many more strong castings...
This was a great blast from the past and still a great movie in 2023.
Ok remake due to the charms of its leads.
What a dull movie. Absolutely no chemistry between the two leads whatsoever and Brosman is about as sexy as a corpse. She is as wooden as a plank. Her makeup is put on with a trowel and was that hairstyle designed to actually hide her face? Underneath all of that she was probably more naturally attractive but instead she looked like a manikin. Awful.
Heist-related parts of the movie were good, though the constant back and forth between the two main characters was annoying and a little dull. Since the latter was the main focus, well…
I don't think, in the history of cinema, I have ever seen a movie with lower stakes. Apparently "aren't these people fine as hell" is supposed to count as substance. And it's not that I just didn't care about these characters - Thomas Crown's complete and utter disregard for these paintings he steals made me actively hate him, and Rene Russo's character seemed to exist only as a mouth for him to kiss. How director John McTiernan went from "Die Hard" to this is beyond me.
Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. What's not to like? He's too perfect. She's too perfect. The directing's too perfect. As is the dialogue and flow of the story. Painting stolen. He's rich. She's an insurance investigator who thinks he's clever enough to try to get away with it. She runs him ragged. He runs her up the stairs. Later they sit around a fire comparing notes. You'll have to watch this fun movie to fill in the blanks. Watch it every year.
I usually like heist movies but this was a pointless plot. Really disappointing.
It is entertaining and different in its genre.
Hated the music and soundtrack but story was fun. I really think the music took the movie on wrong direction but was entertaining. All leads were solid.
