This idea of the film shooting technique director made the film more attractive to people.

It was the best movie of that time

When young loner Anna is hired as the gestational surrogate for Matt, a single man in his 40s who wants a child, the two strangers come to realize this unexpected relationship will quickly challenge their perceptions of connection, boundaries and the particulars of love.

I loved the movie. It kept me interested in the characters throughout. Perfect casting. I even loved her coworker in the coffee shop. The end really surprised me in a good way. Not what I was expecting. Which is nice. It seemed a little too predictable until you get to the end.

The approach this movie takes towards friendship and love, focusing on the latter without delving into unnecessary romances, is exceptionally beautiful. It presents a compelling exploration of finding purpose in a solitary life. This film underscores the idea that friendship can manifest in various forms and appear unexpectedly in our lives. Embracing these connections and actively engaging with them can lead to some of the most fulfilling moments we experience.

Very original story, excellent acting, somewhat quirky but relatable and well developed characters. It's true, the ending is abrupt; this is not your typical "happily ever after" movie, and there is sadness as well as humor - it is bittersweet. To me, this is a movie primarily about the power of kindness, but also about the ephemerality of things. Maybe it's only the beginning of the story, and maybe we should feel free to make up our own next chapter(s).

Spoiler alert Ughh I'm sorry this movie's magic was the anticipation of the ending. Do they get together or not? You're almost positive they will. You don't build intimacy of off a friendship. You build it off being something more. Most romances build off the pain of the disconnect then reconnect (which they give you). But to not offer up them getting together was to build an entire movie off of romantic anticipation and then to not conclude it. "Ohhh but it wasn't a romance - that's the point" BS THIS WAS A ROMANCE. And to try to deny it isn't introspective or edgy or brilliant. It's just absurd and outright false. So to not give the audience the satisfaction of a romantic ending is evil. Here's the best example that I think really brings it home: it's like a Mission Impossible movie where they end the film in the middle of the final action sequence. That's not good film making. That's bad film making. They overthought trying to be outside the box with the ending and ruined the entire as a result. She should have met that baby and then it cut to a scene of them in Vermont with a toddler.

I love how this not turned into a random love story. I liked the sense of humor and especially the acting of Ed Helms. A really charming and fun movie. Perfect for a chilled watch in the evening.

What a boring but kinda cute movie about a man and his surrogate. It's pretty predictable but it's a nice slow change of pace compared to what I'm used to. In the end not a fan but I like Ed helms in these indie movies.

Its gentle, slightly sarcastic, open dialogue is interesting, accessible, and somehow relatable. Brilliant performances support a great story

Humerus at times. Alot of slow scenes and would have wanted a better more complete end. Original plot and topic to deal with. But would never watch this again. I'd skip

It has potential. The ending was too ambiguous. "Let audience figure it out" was lazy writing

Simple, sweet and heart-warming. I love movies with a powerful emotional element, and this is one of those movies. Also solid performances from both the lead actors!

A really unique indie performance from the leads make this better than the premise actually sounds. It does end abruptly but it is also a good watch and finds the beauty in platonic relationships rather than just taking the easy win and making this about a couple of people who get together. I enjoyed this intelligent take.

I was on the fence about whether I can recommend this movie. It's sweet, it's nice, it's fine, and those are adjectives I'm not sure are enough to tell someone this movie is worth watching. Matt (Ed Helms) is a 45-year-old single man who wants to have a child. Anna (Patti Harrison) is a 26-year-old woman whose life hasn't panned out how she's expected it to. Needing the money — and having given birth and putting the child up for adoption as a teenager — Anna becomes Matt's surrogate. From there, we get this strange plot where I'm asking myself for 2/3's of the movie, "Is this normal?" Matt and Anna go to therapy together (?), pick swatches for the nursery together (?), watch every episode of Friends together (?) — I guess this is where we get our title from. We get into the third act before boundaries are really addressed. Calling the movie a "comedy" is a stretch. There are a couple of laugh-out-loud moments, but usually from ancillary characters like Jules (Julio Torres) and Jean (Sufe Bradshaw) — on this note, it felt like a waste of Tig Notaro. You never really get the sense of is this a "will they or won't they" story, but the final scene — really the final shot — maybe provides some interesting nuance. That being said, I think the final shot — which is the most beautiful of the film — had more to do with the baby than with Matt, but I'd be interested in another interpretation. I decided to give the film the lowest possible score while still falling into the "recommends". Take that RT critic (91) with caution.

Unique tale of two people so much apart growing close. Witty dialogues and Cheerful characters enlighten this light hearted story. Relaxing and memorable.

At first glance, "Together, Together" looks like it traveling a well trodden road. The film however, ends up giving us characters that transcend the genre. Ed Helms plays Matt, a middle-aged man who wants a child. He hires Anna to be the surrogate. They have little in common as they get to know each other. You think you know what boxes are going to be checked off, but the movie wisely changes the boxes. The end result is a film that explores complex relationships like adults. Thee bond between Anna and Matt deepens as the movie moves along. Not every detail of these characters is explained, which is good. We meet them as each other meets them, Though it ends abruptly, we are satisfied at where these characters have drifted. I'm glad that occasionally this type of movie about relationships for adults can still thrive.

It's hard to know exactly what to say about this gentle romantic comedy-drama about a middle-aged single father-to-be who begins falling for the 26-year-old surrogate he's hired to give birth to his child. It's an on-again/off-again relationship that tiptoes through issues of connection, loneliness, boundaries and love through a lens that seeks to mix strained intimacy, new dad cluelessness and tentative contractual distancing. It's an intriguing premise that, at least theoretically, pushes the limits of the standard rom-com formula. And, for a story told in three acts, it conveniently draws upon the three-trimester format to pull that off. However, for all these strengths, writer-director Nikole Beckwith's second feature suffers from several script issues, most notably an opening act whose flow consists mostly of a series of forced, awkward conversations, an abrupt ending that brings new meaning to rushed, deliberate ambiguity, and an approach that's often a little too polite for its own good. Nevertheless, the picture generally becomes more engaging the longer it goes on and features fine performances by newcomer Patti Harrison, veteran Ed Helms and a colorful cast of walk-on supporting characters. Had the film been a little more willing to take chances (especially given its already-edgy material) and tightened up its screenplay with an extra measure of definitiveness, this one could have been a genuine knock-out, but it's tendency to play it safe and vague keep it from being carried to full term.

Enjoyable film with excellent acting from principals and supporting cast. A bit frustrating when ending doesn't tie a neat bow but fun to debate what you thing it should be. Or perhaps it leaves room for a sequel!

The movie starts out rather slowly, but eventually the two main characters played by Ed Helm and Patti Harrison begin to evolve an interesting relationship. The ending is ambiguous, as it ends at an unresolved point.
