Total Recall Reviews
The suspense on whether or not they can press the air button is enough reason to watch this film. Everything else is cake.
I remember watching this as a kid and it having positive, lasting impression. After rewatching it recently, despite being more into satirical work and sci fi, I just found this film a little dull. There are great ideas and there is some thought provoktion about the future but I found the storytelling not quite there.
An absolute Arnold classic! It's a great science fiction action movie and I absolutely love the concept. The special effects are overall great for 1990 and the sets are beautifully designed. Imagine a world where you can get a brain chip implanted that allows you to go anywhere in the universe.
The special effects, make-up, and the scenery still look great for the time it was made. Sometimes it's whacky, but overall, a good action movie.
Amazing movie, awesome sets, miniatures and holds up today.
I guess if you like your movies like Quaid likes his women (demure and sleezy) then total recall might just hit the spot. Whilst there's a lot to appreciate, (and perhaps be charmed by now) the whole movie struggles from beginning to end to strike that sweet balance between its visually grotesque/provocative aesthetic and the intellectually stimulating/trenchant exploration of what is essentially an existential crisis. Cronenberg should have made this.
There's not much better in life than an 80's Arnie movie. Loved it back then and still love it now.
This film is truly unbelievable - Arnold Schwarzenegger has once again treated us to another rollercoaster of a film. The action sequences still manage to keep audiences on their toes, and it's only amplified by Jerry Goldsmith's score, the supporting cast is stellar, and you can't bring this film up and not mention its Oscar-winning visual effects, which were truly impressive even today. The fact that they were mostly done practically just makes it an even better experience overall.
A real classic! Weirdly, of all the Philip K. Dick filmatisations, I still feel this one somehow comes closest to the pulpy, paranoid and quarter-sane future (non-)realities constantly mixed and interlaced in the feverish short stories and novellas Dick pumped out with breakneck speed, often just to barely feed his family, in the 50s and 60s.
Total Recall is total epicness, featuring a stellar performance from Schwarzenegger, action-packed scenes, and great visual effects.
This movie is wacky in a good way!
A unique and memorable film that ticks all the boxes you want from an action. One of the better Arnie films.

Old action movies used to be great, I still have fun watching them today.
It is a nice and high quality movie to watch and Arnold's acting was good, I liked the genre very much, the ending was very good, there were boring scenes, but it was nice that they used Mars as the subject and I liked the subject.
Really a perfect movie. Amazing performance by Arnold; amazing visuals and subtext/message.
Fun movie, great action, great acting, good humor. I especially liked the one liners. Arnold Schwarzenegger is extremely charismatic.
I thought the visuals were boring, but I really liked the violence and story. Very good film here I think you should check out. I really enjoyed the writing, there were so many twists and turns it keeps your attention. I like how characters you think would be important just get killed off easily, I found that entertaining. I thought this movie was inspired by Logan¨s Run, because of the dome, dystopian future, big corporation taking advantage of a god given right to make money, yada yada. After some digging I found it wasn¨t, which was a little upsetting but obviously nothing that will make me dislike it. Good movies. One of the better Schwarzenegger films in my opinion. 4/5 stars.
For its time it¨s a great film with lots of twists. The CGI is slighly outdated now but still a great watch !
