Right in the midst of important changes in her life, Bree Osborne (Felicity Huffman) learns that she fathered a son, Toby (Kevin Zegers), 17 years ago. Bailing him out of jail in New York, Bree poses as a Christian missionary. She plans to take Toby to his stepfather's house, but when she learns that the stepfather sexually abused the boy, Bree brings her son back to Los Angeles with her. As Toby begins to fall for Bree, she must find a way to reveal who she really is.

Spoiler free - A very boring and predictable tale, with the expected uninspiring writing that comes along with the subject matter. The acting was average at best, and seemed everybody was there more for a check, than actually creating something that gets the audience invested. So many better options in the genre that don't rely on a gimmick to try to stand out.

The way that this film was done brought so many aspects of gender dysphoria and transexualism to light in a very poignant and powerfully "stealth" way. Felicity Huffman's performance has made an impact on society with this film.

I like this movie a lot but the main role should have gone to a transexual woman actor or male actor. I don't understand why they gave it to a female actress. I love Felicity Huffman but I just don't find the perfomance believable.
