The movie is alright, it’s the classic rom com storyline, which is comforting but predictable. The main characters lack chemistry and depth, and I would’ve liked if we were given more context in terms of their backstory, overall it is an easy watch with some funny moments.

The movie is exactly what you think it would be, a neat quaint romantic with elements of social dictums and humorous instances. I thought it was really cute, even if it's cliched but all rom/coms are cliched. As an aside, Katherine Heigl is a fantastic actress who gets crumey roles. She reminds me of Ryan Reynolds before writers figured out what to do with him. She easily has the lowest rated movies of anybody on rotten tomatoes but it's b/c they cast her in light fare, would love to see her do something with more gravity,but I don't control Hollywood, so alas. This is an easy and fun watch.

It really is just a bad Hallmark movie that is covered in R rated language. Not at all original and not very funny.

I was on a cheesy romcom marathon and I remembered my parents watching this movie when I was a kid, so I thought I'd give it a try. Jesus Christ I wish I didn't because I can't remember the last time I got so angry over a movie. Stopped watching about halfway through. This movie isn't funny. Like at all. And it's barely romantic either, so the title of romcom barely fits. The plot relies on the boring, overdone formula of good girl/bad guy, but it doesn't even do that well. It's ‘comedy' is lazy, relying solely on misogyny and the sexualisation/objectification of women as a crutch for its poorly written jokes. The characters are all so 2 dimensional and forgettable that I don't even remember most of their names. The love interest played by Gerard Butler has literally no redeemable qualities. He's just an asshole that gets the girl simply because the plot requires it. And for some reason we're supposed to root for him over the sweet neighbour who has done practically nothing wrong??? No real woman would EVER choose someone like him, and it's so clear that this movie was written by misogynistic men to appeal to the fantasies of other misogynistic men. Overall just a sad sad attempt at a movie, with boring old jokes that just don't hold up in the current day. But what was I expecting from a movie released in 2009?? Ik this review will mean absolutely nothing to a movie released 13 years ago but I had to vent somewhere.

Heigl goes from playing an intelligent producer to a women willing to change her true self to a new faker version of herself who's sexier, dumber, and is willing to oversexualize herself in order to make him like her. This man obviously doesn't care one ounce about her personality or anything besides the fact she is an object to have sex with. It made me cringe several times, and I didn't laugh once. This is my worst nightmare of a movie. I love Rom Coms but this wasn't funny or romantic? For my humour and in this day and age I find it quite offensive for both men and women. Stereotypes are a HUGE theme in this and prove to be damaging so I get rather annoyed at the characters. Ultimately it's quite a closed minded move which is so frustrating.

The ugly truth about this movie is that it's ugly. The characters and dialogue are shallow and not believable. I didn't laugh once, and I was bored or embarrassed for most of it. It's a real shame that katherine heigl would star in and help produce such a misogynistic load of crap. The movie seems set on convincing women that the only way to catch a man is to be a foul-mouthed flirt who conforms to the porn-standard ideals of beauty, and that no man is capable of falling in love with a woman who acts or looks like herself. That being said, other movies with the same underlying themes never left me feeling so bored by the end.

While there were some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments, they were smothered by the poor script. The first date scene was ridiculously contrived, and it went downhill after that, with the jarring contrast in portraying an intelligent female 온라인카지노추천 show producer as too stupid and ditzy to solve her own relationship problems. The "real" romance could be spotted a mile away, so it wasn't necessary to watch the last half of the movie, as it was completely predictable.

Only the good chemistry of Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl saves this clichéd and very misogynist rom-com, but still has some laughs and can create some discussion, but I would never recommend to watch without critisize its production and to see how little (or how much) we evolved, at least in the audiovisual...

A perfect romcom. Gerald Butler and Katherine Heigl kill it as the romantic couple. It's a pity that Katherine Heigl got such bad press because she is adorable in romcoms and by rights should have done a lot more of them.

Good watch, could watch again, and can recommend. It feels like this is after all the uproar with Katherine Heigl ("27 Dresses") and she was trying to come back with a smile on her face, but she took the role because it gave her the opportunity to act the awful person she was accused of being. Gerard Butler ("Bounty Hunter") acts up a storm to keep up with her, with both equally playing off each of wonderfully. I can't tell the better actor here because Gerard is clearly acting, but he might be acting a character that is acting eccentrically, but I'm still aware regardless of how good it is, versus Katherine who is so natural and seamless that you don't realize she's acting until she over acts per the character following another character's prompts badly. It doesn't make for the best movie, but it sure is interesting. And I'm sure if you can look past all that, then you can appreciate this veil metaphor of the sexes and a very well written story. Nothing about this is fantastic, but it's a solidly good romantic comedy.
