Us Reviews
The first half was a solid home invasion movie, but the second half lost me a little bit.
There is something appealing about the idea of our shadows haunting us and there are some excellent scenes in this horror. Nice twist towards the end but it just doesn’t quite all connect. Watched on Netflix.
Almost to he perfect horror / psychological and fun movie. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!
First 40 minutes were tense and interesting, but when the "other" family gets inside the house the whole movie breaks down. After that the movie loses the whole psychological horror aspect and turns into pointless massacare.
Jordan Peele’s Us is a chilling, thought-provoking thriller with strong performances and a haunting atmosphere. Lupita Nyong’o delivers an unforgettable dual role, and the concept is original and unsettling. While the film is packed with symbolism and social commentary, some plot points feel a bit too abstract or underexplained. Still, it’s a bold, stylish film that keeps you thinking long after the credits roll. Worth watching, but be ready for a wild ride.
I give it this this rating because I like how it looks overall. I think it was well shot, and the acting is good, but I absolutely dislike the way it has been directed. The movie feels like it doesn't know if it wants to be serious or funny. As a horror fanatic, I think that there is a way to incorporate humour in horror but if you do it, it needs to be appropriate to the overall main message and theme of the movie. I feel in this movie it was not done well as in many instances it completely took me out of the movie.
Us is a brilliantly crafted horror film—creepy, smart, and original. The performances are incredible, especially Lupita Nyong’o. It keeps you thinking long after it ends. A must-watch!
He doesn't like to be explained, but more than that, he doesn't like to keep us quiet.
Watched this one with my brother late at night. Turned out to be one of rhe best horror experiences me and my brother have ever had. Anyways Us is a great horror film which shows Jordan Peele can never miss a shot in his movies. With a great twist at the end.
a plot so shocking it’s hard to comprehend! When I finished watching this movie, after finding out the real Adelaide was in that miserable prison-like world for years, knowing she still died down there, it made me dwell on the whole movie and all the Easter eggs that told us her clone was the mother of those children. I then realised the reason the real Adelaide’s voice was the way it was because she was nearly choked to death by her clone as a little girl. Not only that but all the shocking things the Tethered and Adelaide had to do. Adelaide reveals her humanity and her clone reveals her animalistic ways by the end of the movie. Weirdly enough I think her clone was a good mother and did really care about her children and the Tethered children. There is so much to comprehend and watching it back, I wish the real Adelaide won the battle and lived, or that they enjoyed the other world together. Writing this review has definitely got stuff off my chest but I still can’t comprehend the emotions it made me feel and that awful place that the real Adelaide was forced to live in for the majority of her life. #justiceforadelaide
Get Out: 9.5/10 Us: lol /10
Ok but not great. The start was creepy but the rest of the movie was a slow burn that never really came to a climax. As John Travolta once said: "it's a little bit too much like masturbation for me without the payoff".
"US," a film crafted by Jordan Peele and featuring Lupita Nyong'o in the starring role, showcases the remarkable talent of this groundbreaking actress. Nyong'o consistently delivers compelling performances that draw viewers in from the very start, making her a captivating presence on screen. However, in this instance, I found myself feeling disconnected for the first time. The film presented a whirlwind of excitement and thrills, but also left me feeling disturbed and perplexed. I struggled to fully comprehend the narrative as it unfolded, finding it challenging to understand the reasons behind the events taking place. Following the incredible impact of "Get Out," which was a masterclass in storytelling, "US" felt like it missed the mark. It seemed as though Peele was attempting to convey too many ideas at once, culminating in a confusing conclusion that left the audience pondering what had just transpired. While I didn't dislike the film, I haven't felt compelled to watch it again since my initial viewing. When I tried to revisit it for this review, I realized it simply didn't resonate with me. I do think it's worth watching at least once, so you can form your own opinions. Just keep in mind that my perspective is uniquely mine.
i really like it and find it interesting and, think you could watch it - however it is scary. basically, the bad guys are bad and in your neighborhood. they look like you and don't act like you so parental advisory super scary. watch it for fun or learning it's kind of yucky. love it
Must see! Don’t know if i have detected all the layers in this film yet. Extremly well played, directed and wrote. Couldn’t be more relevant than it was at the time and still is 2025. So much more than it seems to be at first…..
Horrible and stupid. One of the worst movies I have EVER seen.
Another great movie by director Jordan Peele. Once again an original idea but this time it is much more comedic and definitely creepier. Not only that its metaphor is very smart and while convolute I understood everything. Solidifying to me that Lupita Nyong’o is an amazing actress with great talent and how to never trust you twin.
Lupita Nyong'o's performance alone gets 5 stars. She is f**king amazing.
