Villains Reviews
Very good. Excellent cast.
Is not bad but not that great either. The comedy isn’t really funny and horror not that great but overall it’s an entertaining movie
I'm not going to spoil anything, but I am really unhappy with that ending. I like this movie, though. A good passing of the time.
A breath of fresh air. I really liked that I had no idea where the story was going. The chemistry between characters and storyline left me wondering the whole time what was really happening, what’s the backstory, I had no idea what the ending would be. I loved the relationships between characters. An easy movie, worth the watch.
Entertaining with bouts of humor.
Boring. As. Hell. The main couple (Skarsgard and Monroe) had zero chemistry that took this from awkward to cringe.
Just go one by one through Jeffrey Donovan's IMDB page and watch everything. Even things not typically up your alley. He's amazing and he has a knack for showing up in great movies with great performers... like this one.
In my entire time reading audience reviews for movies on Rotten Tomatoes, I don't think I've ever come across so many fake reviews. I can't find the words to describe what a horrid piece of sh* this movie is and yet so many 5-star reviews implying otherwise. Bill Skarsgard has got to be the WORST modern day actor alive. He played this character seemingly as a spoof of two-bit crook. Like it was an SNL skit. I almost NEVER do this, but I couldn't even finish the movie. I quit when Jules broke the tongue ring shaft in one of the handcuffs. I just couldn't listen to his audition tape performance anymore. This is an incomprehensibly bad film. Actually, calling it a "film" is an insult to films. It's really something you flush down the toilet.
Interesting start but for an 86 minute movie it just dragged. In my opinion not messed up enough or funny enough. Waste of a great cast.
While the movie was highly predictable it was not bad up until the end. The last 30 minutes of the movie ruined the entire thing.
While not perfect, it is a good screwball comedy that pits an insane gas station robbing young couple with a far more insane older couple with child issues.
Weird comedy but I liked it 👍🏾
One of the best, most unique movies I've seen all year. You go through a range of emotions, it keeps you guessing, actually has suspense, you fall in love with the characters & feel bad for them. Great movie.
Villains is a throw away movie but definitely has it's moments. A good cast & an interesting story with a few laughs makes this worth a watch.
'Villains' is a darkly comedic thriller that I thought I wouldn't like during part of the opening act. It's about a couple of criminals who go on the run after a series of robberies, but end up trying to hide out in another couple's house who may just actually be worse than them. My main gripe was that I didn't really like any of the characters and therefore couldn't really find anyone to root for. I'm pleased to say my opinion changed as the film progressed. What follows is a "cat and mouse" setup and plenty of unexpected turns. Bill Skarsgård and Maika Monroe star as our hapless criminals and they're soon outmatched by a seemingly prim, but secretly twisted, homeowner couple (played brilliantly by Jeffrey Donovan and Kyra Sedgwick). What makes 'Villains' so enjoyable is the interplay between these two couples, each capable of wielding a mix of innocence and menace that flips the power dynamic constantly. Donovan and Sedgwick deliver standout performances, making their characters unnervingly charming yet intimidating, while Skarsgård and Monroe eventually bring a grounded, relatable humanity to their roles, especially when things spiral out of control. The "cat and mouse" game between the two warring factions shifts in unpredictable ways, pulling us along with a genuine curiosity about who will ultimately come out on top. These twists and reasonably short and sharp runtime (especially compared to the average film's runtime these days) actually will keep you guessing until the final scene.
All the men die and all the women live because "modern audience"
Very predictable from start to finish. Only watchable because the plot is good but film lacks shocks, twists or turns and can easily bore viewers within 30 to 45 minutes.
Here we have a couple of young idiots and a couple of middle-aged weirdos that look like characters from a Tarantino / Coen Brothers movie. The lead in particular looks A LOT like a young Steve Buscemi, in a role that might have very well been a young Steve Buscemi's role in a Tarantino / Coen movie... Plus, a lot of mannerisms and twists that seem lifted from... guess what... Derivative to the nth degree, the svelte pace and good acting might nonetheless provide you with some light entertainment that doesn't overstay its welcome
Was okay, about as you’d expect
Very underrated! All of the characters are awesome and acted very well.
